Macbook Pro 2017 Performance Issue (15 fps)

The system recommended specs for this game is lower than my Macbook Pro 2017 model. But i still experience heavy lag because of low fps in both hamlet and in combat. I have checked my activity monitor and the game is not even using much of the cpu (about 80% unused) and only uses about 1GB of RAM.

Anyone else have this issue or know of a possible fix?

My Macbook Pro:

OS: 10.14.6 Mojave
CPU: 2,3 GHz Intel Core i5
Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640 1536 MB
Memory: 8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3

Recommended specs:

OS: OSX 10.9+
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: Open GL 3.2+ Compliant*
Hard Drive: 900 MB available space
Additional Notes: 1080p, 16:9 recommended

P.S - I know Mac's are not meant to game with and that's not why i bought this laptop, i just find it weird that it more then well meets the specs but it still runs so sluggishly.

I use an Early 2015 Macbook Air and i have no issues. Your's is by far a more powerful machine, so i guess it must be something else.

Have you solved your problem? I had the same problem

Darkest Dungeon is a 32 bit program, Mac barely supports 32 bit programs. Switch to Windows instead of being an apple snowflake.

I installed the game outside of steam through GOG and everything is working fine. It must be something with the Steam client. Not an Apple snowflake just prefer their laptops instead of windows ones.

Turn off Discord overlay is a common fix. If you don't have it you should probably install it so you have something to turn off when things go wrong.

Kidding aside, I have a 2010 Macbook Pro and use tons of mods so it's not your laptop that's the problem. Some complain about MacOS Catalina but you don't have that either.

It could also be Steam overlay. I use Steam overlay with this game with no problem with much older hardware, but sometimes that's an issue too.

My only solution i found is to buy/get the game outside of Steam somehow, like GOG or other places. Without Steam the game runs fine on my Macbook now :)
