HOW DOES HUNGER WORK FFS
So alright im pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ salty since i just lost a good squad of guys to literally HUNGER PAINS. This mechanic is so stupid!! Why does going on a path youve previously traversed seem to give you iregular amouns of hunger checks! I literally brought 24 food with me on a medium trip (used 12 for camp/quickheals) And the other 12 was used in the span of 2 mins of walking back down a stupid path! I wasnt moving backwards slowly either, i entered a room and exited back the way i came.

Hunger is a trap. Certain floor tiles will contain a hidden "hunger tile" that may trigger a hunger check. Each time you walk on that tile, there's a chance it might trigger again.

are there plans to reconfigure such a mechanic? Because honestly, in a game on RNG why is this neccessary as well? The torchlight is fine, why cant they just do something simmilar besides random tiles of BULL. I moved from 3 rooms, got 3 hugner calls. And still had at least 4 more rooms to go on various ♥♥♥♥♥♥ branching paths.

It's been like this since Early Access... I doubt there's any plans to change at this point. Generally 12 food for short, 20 for medium and 28 for long is enough as long as you don't use food for healing. Having three rooms with three hunger checks is extremely bad luck.

Yeah, I hate when that happens. Walking on a hunger tile, then needing to return the same way and it triggers the hunger again on the same tile. Seems illogical. You'd think once it did a hunger check once, it'd auto-disable itself for that tile or something.

I haven't seen any ways to change the hunger mechanic, but you might try the workshop. On a short dungeon, 8 food is enough. On a medium, 12 is usually enough, but bring 16 if you need to be safe. Keeping stress low seems to be a good way avoid hunger checks, though I haven't confirmed this. I should also mention that I never use food to heal. I also don't really need to camp on medium dungeons because my cheeky party composition eliminates stress, refills the torch, and fully heals before the end of every fight. Because of this, I can fail hunger checks all day with no issues.

Yeah, my parties are usually very Self Heal/ Team heal heavy. For when life throws you curve ball crits. Needless to say however, i bring way more food then i need always. And even that isint enough when your map layout forces you to go down long paths with few turns to another. So annoyed i had to lose my leper with his amazing trinkets. So long eldritch trinket and your incredible buffs. I can continue the overall game at least, but man im finding it hard not to just restart.

Oh so thats how it works I always hated it that after camping they'd get hungry on the second corridor

Restarting is almost always a bad idea. You lose your Hamlet and all of its upgrades. Dismissing all of your guys and just rebuilding your team from scratch is better if you really feel that way, but usually you'll have a handful of people worth keeping regardless.

yeah, id do it just for the sake of taking the sour taste of that save file out my mouth.

You know you can get the lost trinkets back via the Shrieker quest later on?

Nah i didint know, im fairly new to this game.

There will be random occurrences of a Shrieker quest available later on. If you go into those and survive the Shrieker encounter (which isn't all too hard), then you get 8 of your lost trinkets. This quest can pop up multiple times and seems to occur more frequently if you've lost sufficient number of trinkets.

I didnt know people had problems with hunger system since most either leave beofre they starve or bring enough food and conserve it.

Yeah, hunger checks are either always happening or never happening it seems.

I still have nightmares of the short dungeon where I brought 20+ food and still lost someone due to a crit + hunger check. (had a check nearly every hallway, little backtracking done)

It just shows up if you LOSE the trinkets. In my current Bloodmoon(week 68) I did not lose anything and he still did not appeared. (I know there is an event that makes him stole 8 from you but has not happened yet)
