So...how exactly is the swine prince/king/god/hax suppose to be beatable?
On the third attempt at the boss, which is a first because every single other boss has been beatable on the first try if not second, literally on the first turn, I had fully upgraded armor, weapons and skill up to the max rank before level requirements wouldn't let me play the level, I had camped to get buffs and used 4 holy waters, I had a team of heros who could heal and cause bleed damage and reach spot 4 all at full health with no debuffs...then when the fight came, I literally killed the little mark pig on the very first turn...
apparently that doesn't matter, because the king did as much damage as it does to a marked hero, except it doesn't it to **all 4** heros on the entire team **twice** every turn in addition to stunning at least 1 champ...this is literally at least twice as difficult as facing the shambler, in fact facing two shamblers would be easier, the boss on the darkest dungeon level is easier. I looked at every guide and none of them seem to be telling the truth because none of them work, I tried man at arms guarding, I tried arbolest mark removal, I tried killing wilbur first, I tried not killing wilbur first, I tried antiquarian dodge, I tried leper swing and heal, but it's all lies. How could it possibly be possible to beat it? Is there some kind of hacking software out there I'm suppose to be using?

Killing the little one is literally the *worst* thing you can do in this battle. Its like saying "Jo swiney, my partey is kinda annoying and my roster is full, could you be so kind to make me some room for fresh flesh? Thank ya"

But see this is the third attempt and *not* killing wilbur didn't work the first two times. Every other boss is manageable, but no combination of heros is ever enough for this guy.

So, here's the thing: You aren't supposed to kill Wilbur (the marking / stunning pig) until AFTER you've killed his big "brother." It's possible to kill the Behemoth (i.e. the Swine Prince / King / God) after killing Wilbur first, but it's most DEFINITELY not advised. I have some recommendations for doing things the "correct" way, but there's definitely a few variations on the approach.

Firstly, bring an Arbalest and an Occultist, making sure that the Arbalest has her Flare and the Occultist has Weakening Curse. If you're going to use holy water for buffing resistances against Stun on anyone at start, these two are the primary ones to use it on. Most of the time, I just use the Mark Party, and combo with a Bounty hunter in spot one, and a Hound Master in spot 2 or 3. The Arbalest will run Sniper Shot, Bola, her bandage, and the Flare, focusing solely on clearing Marks & Stuns until the Big Guy is able to be taken out by one shot from her. The Occultist just spams Weakening Curse, makign it so that even crits from him on a non-defended ally will be very manageable. The Bounty Hunter is there to deal damage via the mark placed by the Hound Master, who will otherwise be using his dodge-tank Guard ability.

Once you've taken care of the Mountain of Pig, wilbur steps up and get's irritating, but is generally pretty quickly taken care of (though there's a real put down of an achievement you can go for if you don't mind the runt of the pair taking your whole party out)

Then you are playing poorly/ having a bad comp. Swine King is realy not that hard if you ignore Willbur.
BandAid Dec 7, 2017 @ 9:12pm
uh, ok.

Killing Wilbur first is the worst thing you can do in this fight. The Swine prince/king/god will go nuts and attack all of your heroes every turn for a crippling amount of damage.

Stuff that works: Stunning Wilbur with attacks that do NOT do damage. Plague Doctor and Bounty Hunter have those. If he is stunned he cannot mark. Plague Doctors stun has the advantage that you occasionally may get the prince too.

Remove Marks with Arbalest Flare.

Alternatively, bring a Occultist and debuff the Swine Whatevers damage to next to nil.

Houndmaster is good because he does lots of additional damage.

Whatever you decide to too, bring trinkets which boost your chances of stunning. On Champion Level, for the Plague Doctors stun to work reliably you need the Plague Vial for the +40% Stun chance. If you can bring another Trinket which adds Stun chance so much the better.

Well I guess I'll give it a try, hope it works.

Let me know if there's an issue. Keep an eye on your quirks, and the trinkets you bring. This is one fight where it's definitley advantageous for the Occultist to have improved debuff skill chance via his trinkets. Turn order can screw you a bit here and there (I really think it's a decent idea to have the arbalest with a speed bonus (Early Riser or Quick Reflexes), but just try not to get frustrated by one turn and remember to keep your eye out for that opportunity to turn it around.
Edit: Also, I don't know if you're against it, but I personally think the Wiki is your friend. YMMV, ;)

your team will scream at you not to hurt the small one.

Wouldn't it be cool if you could take Wilbur home as a mascot? They need to have a Wilbur trinket, where it's not his flag, but Wilbur in a cage (his arms crossed and sulking).

I would not want a mascot that can kill me by screaming at me.

Oh please, he only deals like what, 1 damage? Such an attack would never even bother you. Or kill your fav dude 1 round before finishing him. Never. Hahaha... haha...ha...

Getting party wiped by Wilbur has to be the third most humilating way possible. The only things even worse would be getting wiped by an obstacle or a hunger check.

Has to be a hacking software, there's no other way!

I still think it's the easiest boss, even easier than the Necromancer. There are a few comps that work pretty well. What I found to be the best strategy at champion level is dodge-tanking: Take a high damage dealer in the front, two Houndmasters in the middle, each equipped with trinkets that give them about +25% dodge, and a healer (or Arbalest) in the back, and use the Houndmasters to make the party virtually untouchable.

Funny, cause there are achievements for ALL of those!

It is one of the easiest bosses in the game. Bring a marking party of your own with an Arbalest who can clear Wilbur's marks with rallying flare. Do not touch Wilbur himself until you kill the big pig. An Occultist with damage debuffs is also an option.
