I need a little bit of advice concerning the unstable flesh.
So i've fought this monster at least 8 times, and lost every single time. Regardless of who i brought with me. Like this last go-round i brought a healer, a leper, a swordsman, and a. i forget the name at this moment but it's the female with the pointy hat and the skills like throwing knives and giving the enemy acid damage and such.

anybody have any advice on who to use (or what trinkets might be helpful against it?)

One word: AOE

Just use some AOE attacks and you'll kill it in no time. They're usaully bad in any other case because you want to focus enemies but the unstable flesh has one single HP bar so AOE attacks are OP. Hound's harry, Zealous accusation, plague grenade and Flashing dagger are very good in this fight. especially hound's harry. If you choose single target attacks anyway, focus the heart because it has no PROT.

Take one or two Plague Doctors, spam Plague Grenade forever. AOE DoT is the most effective against the Flesh.

Just bring anyone who can do DOTs, especially AOE DOTs. PD's AOE stun & blight DOTs are good (bring Blasphemous Vial trinket) . HM is also good because his dog is a beast killer; Hound's Harry, Hound Rush vs. Heart, Guard Dog can protect squishy PD & self-buff his dodge, pray that the flesh will miss. Flagellant's Punish has a good, single-target bleed DOTs. SPD is also key here which allows you to act first. Butt flesh can be notoriously quick.

I took party with 2 Abominations, Plague doctor stacked blight while they were either using rake for lot of dmg if parts were squishy enough or single target if part was heavy armored.

blight and bleed are your friends. Each section you inflict with it means it takes the damage 4 times per round. You can kill it pretty quickly. I recommend Flagellant and Plague Doc

You can also defeat it with a Mark party. Something like Bounty Hunter, Houndmaster, Vestal & Abalest. Optionally you could replace the Vestal with an Occultist (for more marking) but the Vestal's group heal is particularly useful against the formless flesh.

Essentially once it's shifted, have someone mark the most vulnerable section then everyone who can reach it hammers that bit. Characters like the Leper or Crusader don't always fare too well in this encounter because they're limited to striking at the front ranks (which might have quite high Prot on some rounds). Essentially you want a party where every member can target each and any rank most of the time. The formless flesh does not push or pull your heroes around so you can have some quite positional characters (Like the Arbalest) perform quite reliably without having to worry about them being shuffled out of place.

someting like: healer, plague doc, houndmaster, Hellion would prob be good.

you want AOE DOTs (as everyone has said). Hellion has some nice bleeds, HM can use harry or hounds rush on weak segments, plague doc can plague grenage or cure/heal you team if you need it. either healer would work, although occultist has more synergy with the party (plus the party can run enough off-heals that aoe vestal heal isn't as required).

hope you have better luck!

If you want to defeat it without DOTs, then you need a party capable of hitting every rank, meaning the leper and crusader are the worst choices. Want something like VES-GR-BH-HEL. have the bounty hunter actually take caltrops. The grave robber is the one with throwing knives and poison, which coincidentally is a good setup here, since the poison can hit row 1.

But yes the easiest thing to do is to bring a plague doctor and/or jesters, and spam their AOE, largely ignoring the fight mechanics.

The hellion can hit every rank, brings strong bleeds, and has a strong stun for the times it spawns no soft bits.

It's a good idea to bring antivenoms and bandages (for once) to this boss.

Pretty much any composition can work against the Unstable Flesh, since it is just a Veteran boss. A lot of those compositions though are hard to pull off against the Formless Flesh, which is the Champion version, not because of the fight, but because of the room battles that you encounter on your way to the fight. Giants are pretty nasty, when you have an unpolished composition. I used Houndmaster-Occultist-MaA-Helion on all levels and it was always a walk in the park.

oh ♥♥♥♥. true. Flesh is Warren not Weald. My bad. The composition is still the easiest imo

Take a compo with good AoE damage but safe HP pool. The Flesh can do high damage both at high range/low range.
I usually go with :

Plague/Vestal/MaA/Hellion

They all get enough HP, I get a lot of stuns if needed (From Plague with Blasphemous Vial, Hellion/MaA), good choice of row hitting with Hellion (Bleed Out can be nice to have too), and the ability to be fully safe on your backlane with the protect of your MaA.
You can also stack the buffs of your MaA, getting dodge + Damage as you camp, and stacking Bolster during the fight when you don't need his stun/protect, to reach a good amount of dodge (50-70+) and get a decent amount of dodging during the fight (even tho the dodge stat isn't quite reliable)

I have since defeated the foul thing using the following advice. I did take with me an arbalest, an occultist (he was in the first of the lineup) a druid (one of the add-on mod types) and a abomination. And thanks to everybody's help, I did exactly as you suggested and aimed for the soft fleshy parts. That worked wonderfully.
