Abomination: Why the fursecution?
Why is this hero so detested by everyone? It's not like he even turns into anything all that horrifying. He remains a mammal at all times. Like the ninja, his purpose is to flip out and kill people, but everyone else does that, too.

So why does everyone get all high and mighty and refuse to serve with this perfectly honorable creature? Even the filthy bloodsucking vampire Vestal won't go out with him.

I also don't get the massive Stress mechanic. Seriously, he's a mammal. He's not some horrifying fish creature or some bloodsucker. Why the massive stress when he turns into the dude from Altered Beast?

I just think this dude has been unfairly treated.

I'm pretty sure if you were just going about your job slaying some walking skeletonmen, then all of a sudden your nearby buddy began violently, rapidly convulsing, screaming and roaring, and then suddenly went momentarily limp as every single bone in his body shattered and reformed, making a horrible rattling sound as he hunches over and his skull is torn apart and elongated, growing entirely new teeth, as his skin reddens and his blood turns into a sickly green, he grows a sudden pair of horns and starts viciousely ripping apart people with reckless abandon while roaring, you'd be pretty stressed too.

The dude is literally basically shattering his bones and then regrowing them infinitesimally many times in an instant to adopt a new figure and abilities, which would look horrifying enough to give one PTSD and would feel horrifying enough to warrant the abominations stress

Yeah, and in the normal world, this would be pretty appalling, but this is the world of Darkest Dungeon. It's probably the least freaky thing you've seen all day.

"I would not serve with this... Creature"

Leper after complaining nobody wants him because of his disease. Dude is a hypocrite.

the Leper just needs a bit of aloe vera and he'll be fine. The only cure for what's basically a werewolf is a silver bullet :P

The abombination has eldritch poison coursing through their veins - in effect - they are possessed by a great evil that looks to take them over and unleash nothing but death and destruction on the world at large.

The abombination in your party seemingly has it under control, however not every one believes this...

Those that come from religious backgrounds may sincearly believe that this person is fully possessed by the evil that stirs with-in them and is simply 'acting good' to lull others into a false sense of safety. He himself implies that he doesn't have full control over it either with many of the Barks he spouts during many of the afflicted states.

"The pain helps steel me against its will!" (refusal to heal)
"Eventually it will devour one of you" (refusal to eat)
"Too risky, I teeter on the threshold and it lurks beyond!" (refusal to be buffed)

So when he all of a sudden transforms into a hedious demon like beast and starts performing inhuman feats which rend foes apart... it makes you worry if he actually DOES have control... wonder if he'll just stop after he is done with them.

The Abomination is some dude that turns into something that beats the holy hell out of whatever is trying to kill you.

I mean, couldn't the Vestal and the Crusader and whoever show a little gratitude? Especially when they're usually vampires themselves at some point in the game.

I know what you mean, but there is still a difference between an unholy monster that is the vampire, and an eldritch abomination.

It's just a wolf, though. It's not like it's even a monstrous shoggoth with 15 dozen eyeballs or a grotesque fish thing. It's just a happy little wolf. I'm not getting the hostility.

I completely agree with the OP. I would prefer that the Abomination be allowed to join with any composition of adventurers, and simply have a combination of effects: Have his camping skills apply greater stress to Religious heroes and add some lines of dialogue from the Vestal, Crusader, and Leper (the Flagellant can just say, "You scratch my back I'll scratch yours.") I'm pretty sure that the currently silent majority actually agrees that the religious restriction is stupid, but it's a conversation that's been had so often it's almost pointless at this point. I also think there's been a number of times where Red Hook hinted they were going to remove the restriction in this or that update, but it hasn't currently materialized. Cross your fingers for the next DLC, I guess.

Currently I never use any of his camping skills as they all pretty much add stress percentage to himself and I prefer to have him 'Beast Out' as often as possible for as long as the fight lasts.

This is what I do, too. Just hulking out is the purpose of this character. I very rarely don't do this, and even more rarely turn back into a human.

It's not a wolf tho, nothing more far from that. He has horns and hooves, his face resembles nothing like canine features.

About the religious restriction, I agree it doesn't hold a lot of water. Rumors said it was gonna be changed to quirk-related instead of class-related but hasn't been materialized yet. Shame tho, Abom with Leper or Crusader would obliterate front ranks in seconds.

I'm starting Dark Runs on a new estate soon - in apprentice - and as soon as I get the Demon's Cauldron I'm going with the Jester (Ancestor's Scroll + Bright Tambourine), Occultist, Abomination, and ShieldBreaker. Honestly a little terrified as I would prefer the slightly greater security of a vestal for the SB, but eh. The stress in 0 light is also going to be soooper fun. :)

I'm pretty sure you mean Dark Tambourine there, unless you want to turn Dark Runs into Masochistic Runs too

Leper more so than Crusader, but yeah, absolutley agree. Still, he works great with the SB or Hellion, I just wish the SB had more health (Occultist heals for 0 & DOT to 40 crit!, thanks game!)

But he's a pretty cool guy and he's fighting everything you're also fighting.

So he's a monster who transforms into a rampaging beast that just randomly eats everything in sight. Big deal. That's only slightly more weird than your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ party leader who is a crusader who immediately starts out as a kleptomaniac.

Seriously, compared to every hero in the game, why is this poor dude so maligned and mistreated that other classes refuse even to be in the same party as him? Even though all he does is kill things everyone agrees need to be killed?
