When to Enter... The Darkest Dungeon
So, I've currently got several high rank heroes with maxed skills and gear, and some solid Trinkets to back them up. And my roster is full, and could use some 'clearing', since as I understand a hero who has gone into the Darkest Dungeon doesn't take up a slot anymore.

At what point should I enter The Darkest Dungeon? Should I be grabbing a few more Champion Medium / Long Trinkets first (I've only just got my first one)? Should I clear out the relavent negative quirks of any hero who will be making the trip? Maybe even try to farm up some good quirks to lock in? Or maybe I should just kill all the bosses first?

I'm not looking to BEAT the game at this exact moment. That can wait. But a trip into the Darkest Dungeon would clear up my roster a bit, and make room for some more neglected hero types.

Assuming you're not just sending in a scouting party, but actually intend to beat the first level, I'd say we'd want more info. No one should be below 6th level; You'll definitely want to have every single combat skill that attacks enemies to be at rank 5, and have both Weapons and Armor there as well. The Man-at-Arms, Highwayman, Hellion, Jester, Flagellant, Occultist or Vestal, and probably a few others are good, and if you have the Shieldbreaker DLC with the CC set intact, I'd try that out. A few off the cuff thoughts. If you're not wanting any spoilers, I don't think I want to say more than the above.

Not everyone is at sixth level just yet. Though plenty are at 5. However, I suppose +10 to all resists is a big deal. I can easily purchase level 5 skills/equipment for everyone. Besides level 6, the only thing any character is lacking are 'ideal' Trinkets and Quirks. I suppose it's worth a shot to attempt then, at least once I get a team ready for it.

I lack either DLC, by the way. As such, I think the best option for me is MaA, Occultist, and then two of Highwayman, Hellion or Jester. I'll worry about that when I get there, though I notice all three of them have bleed damage in common... Anyway, I usually kit out the MaA as a wall and the Occultist as a Healer (chancey, but so wonderful when it works), with the three damage dealers usually getting a mix of offense and defense in their trinkets.

Do the DD bosses have any really weird mechanics, or are they all as predictable as the rest of the bosses? Which is to say, you can reasonably learn how they work, and act accordingly, within a turn or two, before you're slaughtered.

As said above, you want all chars at max level and all equipment and skills full upgraded. Trinket wise all depends how you are gonna use your chars, if your Occ is a healer he is probably set with Dunia head which you probably have already, MaA want his Rampart Shield etc, I don't think it's needed the 'best' trinkets, but the ones which work well with your strategy and team comp. Stun and Bleed amulets for example are just uncommon and easy to have several, and are staples in a lot of my comps.

For the bosses themselves I don't wanna expoil the experience for you as is very worth it going blind, but you can see in first mission description u gotta beat the **shuffling** horror so... (wink) but I guess I can say I don't think they are very different in terms of difficulty to other champion bosses, and easier than juggernauts like the Shambler.

Go in ready to dance. Got it. No Lepers :D

I appreciate the subtler hints here. I don't want to be too spoiled, but I'd hate to lose an entire team to an enemy simply because I just happened to pick a bad party for it.

Forgot to talk about quirks... I cannot say much as I tend to abuse Caregiver Convention and all my good heroes have good ones locked and maneageble bad when they are at that point, but unless you have something terrible like +% Stress against Eldrich (obviously you gonna find a lot there) or Soft in frontliners I wouldn't bother too much.

Once I learned about it and it's usefulness, I try to pickup Caregivers Convention every time I can.

Are all the Darkest Dungeon bosses Eldricht? I haven't worried too much about the enemy type quirks, but if all of them are Eldricht, then it might be worth perming some anti-Eldricht perks on characters with nothing better to select.
What The Sigmar? Nov 3, 2017 @ 9:50pm
Sounds like you're plenty ready for the dankest dungeon to me. Just remember what they say about overconfidence...

Also, don't bother bringing any shovels, keys, or laundanum. You won't need any of that.
Be sure, however, to fill your entire inventory with the other provisions.

All the enemies that will pose any decent threat to you will be eldritch, so yeah, go ahead and reap the benefit of those eldritch perks.

Most of the enemies in DD2 and all of the enemies in DD3 will have the beast tag as well, so bring some beast hating heroes and/or the pupper master if you're so inclined.
