Shrieker Party Composition & Trinkets?
Hey all, I wanted to ask your opinion of the "best" options in Heroes and Trinkets for taking on the Horrid Shrieker (champion diff) and killing both it and it's nest.

My own thoughts had been:

  • Arbalest rank 4, equipped with The Prophet's Eye and the Wrathful Bandana, using Sniper Shot, Sniper's Mark, Battlefield Bandage, and Rallying Flare.
  • Hound Master rank 3, equipped with Ancestor's Pistol and the Ancestor's Musket Ball, using Hound's Rush, Target Whistle, Cry Havoc, and Lick Wounds
  • Hound Master rank 2, equipped with Evidence of Corruption and the Battered Lawman's Badge, using Hound's Rush, Target Whistle, Lick Wounds, and Blackjack
  • Man-at-Arms rank 1, equipped with a Sun Cloak and Sun Ring, using Crush, Defender, Retribution, and Command

The Arbalest and the 2 Hound Master's would preferably have Eagle Eye, Unerring, and Quick Reflexes for quirks, while the Man-at-Arms would have Hard Noggin', Hard Skinned, and either Tough or Unyielding.

The Arbalest would be the one attempting the Mark most often, as with her debuff bonus she might actually be able to also land the lowered Dodge on the Shrieker (hopes and dreams); preferably she'd be doing this immediately after the Man-at-Arm's used Command for heightened accuracy. The two Houndmaster's have the obvious benefits of their dog treats (which I completely admit I never thought about until a saw a YT video detailing this and immediately smacked myself for after), and with no other fights and only 4 rounds to act, would easily see the benefits throughout the entirety.

Obviously I'd be bringing every bit of Holy Water and other useful consumeable I could as well.

Any comments on this, aspects of the fight or general gameplay tactics I'm possibly not thinking ahead of or seeming prepared for? Alternate suggestions for Trinkets, perhaps?

Two GR, one Occ, the frontliner is irrelevant.
Spam throw dagger with GRs, buffing ACC.
Spam the hex that reduces dodge with Occ.
Reach 100% (90%) hit chance in a couple turns with GRs.
Win.

PS: I just saw u wanted to kill the nest too, my bad. With this comp you will kill the bird 100% of the time, but not sure you can kill the nest too before the bird flees, not too much DPS output.

Were you actually able to kill the Shrier with this group, not just cause it to fly away? I understand you technically kill it / it kills itself, by flying away, but my aim is to actually land a killing blow. I wouldn't have figured the GR's to have enough damage with their Throwing Dagger skills alone, what kind of Trinkets do you recall using?

I just fought the Shrieker with: Flagellant, Houndmaster, Jester, Arbalest.

Flagellant had: Surgical Gloves, Moon Ring
Arb: Steady Bracer(best I had), Legendary Bracer
Houndmaster: Badge(CC), Protective collar
Jester: Moon Cloak, Book of Sanity - Dodge items are best for him, all he does is Battle Ballad

My GR was unable to attend due to an affliction and the Flagellant had Rabies. The fight was done at 0 light. There were no misses/dodges(shrieker) to my knowledge. 2 People went to DD due to Peck crits, which was Jester(bleed) and Flagellant.

EDIT: Grave Robber is probably one of the best, due to +ACC and CRITS from Thrown Dagger. Her trinkets would probably be: Foot thingy(+10 ACC ranged, GR specific) and Raider Talisman(+CRIT)

Yes you kill it 100%. Never got it to flee with this comp.
Iirc, I would use the dodge, + ACC for ranged skills trinket for GRs, then some damage like Musket Ball or Dismas Head.
Occ you want Debuff skill, so the cauldron for sure, then something else.
Frontliner I normally bring a flag but then misses all the time against the bird, so its irrelevant :/

Arbalest, houndmaster, hellion, jester,

Jester opens with finale, then sings for accuracy. Ancestor's pen and ancestor's candle.

Hellion uses iron swan/bleed out. Bleed out would be worthwhile even if you didn't have herbs, but you can spam herbs so do that too. Give her +bleed and a sun ring.

Houndmaster uses a mark on the nest, and uses rush. Sun ring and ancestor's musket ball, for preference.

Arbalest snipes. Bandages in dire emergencies. Sun ring and dismas head.

Remember you have to kill the nest first anyway, and it pins the shrieker for bleed out. Don't bother marking or debuffing the shrieker, it will wear off immediately if not sooner.

Interesting, (and thanks, guys) I would have honestly thought the Hound Master and Arbalest would be the 2 classes most useful for quickly cutting down the Shrieker, though I grant the Arbalest isn't exactly the Flash in terms of base speed (unlike the GR). I had a rocky time in my first few estates with finding a use for all the classes, but in my current one I'm working at getting the Caretakers Board et al knocked off my Achievement' "To Do's" list.

I'd also always had more of a mind for using the GR as a Lunge & Shadow Fade kind of build, so I suppose this should encourage me to spec a pure ranged variation.
