Update problems
Hi! I'm trying to update the game but an error appears: it says that Darkest.exe located in the "_windows" folder is corrupted. The problem is that I can't see that file in the folder, but only in "_windowsnosteam". Has anyone of you ever encountered this problem?

Try to verify your game integrity. Right click on darkest dungeon on your steam library.

I tried it earlier and it said that there was no problem with my game files. Thank you anyways, I'm still gonna retry when I'll be back at home

It still says that there is no problem. I also tried to re-install the game, also removing all the files in the Darkest Dungeon Folder, but Darkest.exe won't install at all
EDIT: grammar

One of the possibilities is your antivirus thought darkest.exe is an a virus, Try to update your antivirus or check your antivirus quarantine(?) folder for your missing files maybe?

Did you find a fix? I'm having this same problem :(

I just started having this problem too. This thread was old but appears to be an issue now. It says I have an update. However when I start the update it just sits at "starting" then eventually it times out.

It is an issue that appears to randomly affect people - once you have the issue it is hard to get rid of.

First try this...

Verify Game FIles
Logout of Steam
Re-Start Computer
Log in to Steam
Verify Game Files again

Now see if you can receive the update.

If you still cannot then you have a longer bit of troubleshooting to do.

Here on the forums you can find the steam guide for troubleshooting - there are numerous steps to follow.

Whne I had this issue I had to Repair my Steam Library - I ended up going through every step until I fixed it.

Good luck.

I tried to validate the game files but it just sits at 0%. I should note I was playing this on my laptop a few days ago 6/23 and then today on my home PC 6/25 I had this happen. I think it's an issue with the cloud sync possibly. I assume just uninstalling and reinstalling will fix it.
RupTurE Jun 25, 2018 @ 7:15pm
Well I uninstalled and when I tried to install I got this error in a steam error dialog box
"An error occurred while installing Darest Dungeon (manifest unavailable) :
then some huge long link to some us-ohio.steam-content-dnld-1.us-e2-cdn.cqloud.com/vavle607 you get the idea...

I have the same problem. I done every step in the Steam troubleshooting guide short of reinstalling Steam itself. Can't verify integrity of files as it just sits at 0%. I uninstalled the game and now can't reinstall it. It just started happening with the latest update as I was happily playing just yesterday. I have the same error message as RupTurE.

I tried clearing my download cache via the settings -> downloads page and that didn't work either. Same error.

Yep. Clearing download cache didn't work for me either. Neither did changing my download region. I've started a ticket withh Steam Support. Hope they come up with something soon.

Today when I got home from work and started steam the game downloaded. I think there was some issue with their contend delivery server in Ohio.
