Shambler's Altar spawn rate
is the dungeon level related to it?

Today i've been playing apprentice dungeons for hours trying to farm the last ancestor's trinkets for the achievement and i've only gotten one fight...and it was a 1% random fight. Not a single altar in 4 hours..

they do spawn in lower level dungeons and I just actually saw one recently but my leper decided to get all touchy, touchy with it.

Yeah but the rate is all weird... It's the kind of stuff that it's always on your face when you fear it but when you need him it dissappears

Just a bit of bad luck getting it to spawn. Its why i always use the alter when I see it during the normal game

I feared the shambler...actually the first shambler trinket I got was against the shuffling horror... So I did not dare fighting him until now so I would build parties dedicated to fight him.

Mark teams are amazing overall...

Yeah it's just a random rarer curio. I keep finding them on boss quests, where I usually don't want to do them. I did hag + shambler though on the PS4 file that had him eat Dismas and Reynauld on the tutorial.

Sweet, sweet revenge.

Like you noted they only seem to show up when you least want them, such as when hunting another boss when you just fought the Collector with an Antiquarian party etc. Murphy's law aside the alters do seem to be quite rare, but not as rare as randomly encountering them in the dark. I wander around without torches a lot and have only ever run into one Shambler that way. Where as I have run into a comparative ton of alters in the same amount of time. If I was going to hazard a guess from my own experience, maybe one alter every ten dungeons or so on average? They seem about as rare as the tentacle idols.
