The Arbalest clears stuns and marks with Rallying Flare which will cause the Swine God to use his weaker Wild Flailing attack. The Occultist debuffs the Swine God's damage with Weakening Curse to the point he barely scratches your party.
Agreed on other suggestions- either use means to remove marks, or mitigate the swine god's own damage to reduce it down.
Plague Doctor with Witch's Vial and Blasphemous Vial
So I just spam Blinding Gas on the Swine god and Wilbur
Occultist with Demon's Cauldron and Cursed Incense
Just keep using Weakening Curse on Swine god so his attacks don't hurt as much
Bounty Hunter with Wounding Helmet and Sun Ring
And then Leper with Fortunate Armlet and Sun Ring
So yeah that's what I use for the Swine god
I recommend Hellion, Bounty Hunter, Occultist and Houndmaster if you dont have Arbalest. BH and HM can use the mark damage skills too.
Easy mode. Use leper to kill him. Clear marked with rallying flare. Guard Arb and Lep with your two HMs. Only thing that can trip you up is if Wilbur imposes his marks right after Arb's turn. But you can speed her up with blindshot between rallying fire necessities, so don't forget your blindfire.
- The amount of damage he deals is simply unsustainable, so you need a way of preventing that. 99% of the time that's going to be Arbalest removing marks, since you can't really stun the God and damage debuffs can't really offset the massive damage bonus vs. marked that Swine God gets. The alternative is to put a tanky hero and a MaA in the frontlines and have them soak up the AoE while the MaA guards whoever gets marked that isn't a frontliner. Flagellant kind of works, but a lot of damage will get focused on to him. That can get kind of risky since a crit from Swine God (who usually acts last) will drop him to 0 health instantly while Wilbur will virtually always act first on the next round and gets two actions that could force a deathblow check.
- Wilbur can stun, so don't rely on one healer or you could lose all your healing if they get stunned (which can easily lead to character death).
- Don't use Riposte because it can kill Wilbur.
If you can do all of that, you basically just beat the snot out of him until he dies.
You can bleed/plague him to death.
You can debuff him to the point of negligible damage intake.
Rallying Flare removes Swine's ability to use his nastiest attack.
You can typically burst him down with or without the above provided you have enough sustain.
I am not one to advocate 'defensive' strategies as those tend to allow more damage through than just slapping the damn thing, eg. unreliable dodge, or wasting turns adding prot to your team hoping to out-soak damage, as this will NOT prevent crit-stress and boss fights are not the best means of winning a stress-war. As (typically) the last fight of the dungeon, it's nice to go in and dunk him with minimal stress.
There are plenty of methods that just flat-out kill the boss and do not involve trying to cheat the risk of taking damage. Rallying Flare is the exception as it does both - removes bosses ability to hammer out massive damage (and can remove stuns from Wilbur) allowing everyone else to just truck the Swine down. It is also a minor stress-heal. It really is the ultimate cheese.
Flagellant's Anti-Mark (as someone suggested) is not the same as he simply transfers mark to himself and thus invites himself to eat tremendous damage. He can only reliably do this once or twice if allowed to self-heal via Exanguinate, but if you keep relying on this, the anti-healing stacks up and it becomes riskier with repetition. He will also be unable to transfer mark if he has to worry about his own HP at the same time, and so both he and someone else may then start eating massive damage while you are forced into a recovery issue. In short, DON'T do that instead of Rallying Flare - it's a nonsensical comparison.
