As good as a 40% damage bonus against a specific enemy is, you generally want something good against types that aren't rare unless you specifically know you're fighting that particular enemy.
Also Gargoyles are also Unholy, and the type of team you bring into Ruins will often already have bonuses against that, or trinkets and quirks specific to Unholy.
It's mainly useful for completing your collection of Crimson Court trinkets by fighting the Garden Guardian, which only appears after defeating the Countess. So it's nearly useless for anything else other than that.
Shieldbreaker will run roughshod over it.
Better to get universal or anti-Bloodsucker trinkets.
Still, I've never lost a hero in that mission and only had to flee in shame once (and it had nothing to do with the Garden Guardian itself).
