Sculptor's Tools
I got a trinket called Sculptor's Tools yesterday. It is a Very Rare, and it gives bonus damage to "stonework" which doesn't make much sense to me. Anyone know what it is meant for?

There's a Crimson Curse Courtyard boss that is Stonework. You can catch a glimpse of it in the trailer for the DLC.

So a boss-specific hoser trinket. Thanks!

Welcome! There's others like it too, like one for the new roaming boss, The Fanatic!

Does this work again gargoyles too?

Yes, but even in the dungeons where they show up, it's rarely worth bringing along just to deal with them. If you somehow had it for Vet/Champ Ruins without having much better trinkets already, maybe.

As good as a 40% damage bonus against a specific enemy is, you generally want something good against types that aren't rare unless you specifically know you're fighting that particular enemy.

Also Gargoyles are also Unholy, and the type of team you bring into Ruins will often already have bonuses against that, or trinkets and quirks specific to Unholy.

It's mainly useful for completing your collection of Crimson Court trinkets by fighting the Garden Guardian, which only appears after defeating the Countess. So it's nearly useless for anything else other than that.

And Guardian isn't even much of a threat anyway.
Shieldbreaker will run roughshod over it.

Better to get universal or anti-Bloodsucker trinkets.

I must have fought that goofy thing a couple dozen times and curbstomped it every single time. The only time I ever had any trouble in that whole mission was a seriously unlucky battle I had to flee from involving a Large Carrion Eater.

Still, I've never lost a hero in that mission and only had to flee in shame once (and it had nothing to do with the Garden Guardian itself).

As others have said, they're good for the Garden Guardian and Gargoyles and nothing else. Best used for the Guardian cause Gargoyles are uncommon and even then how useful it is compared to class trinkets, or even generic trinkets, for certain builds is questionable.
