What are Virtue Chances?
Title speaks for itself.

If a character's stress gets to 100, their resolve is tested. If they pass the resolve check, they get a massive 'virtue' buff, massively reducing their stress while also giving many other benefits to themselves and the party over the course of the run.

If they don't pass the check, then they get an affliction instead. As you can likely imagine, this is much, MUCH less good. An afflicted hero can easily ruin an otherwise good run for the entire party.

The higher a hero's Virtue Chance, the more likely they are to pass that resolve check. You want them to pass that check. But generally speaking, it's better to just not get them that stressed in the first place.

I don't think that this is what he asked. He is asking for specific values and the official wiki of the game can help us here.

"The base virtue chance is 25%. Characters with lower level than the dungeon they are in get a virtue chance penalty of 5% per level difference except when the difference is 6 (level 0 characters in the Darkest Dungeon) then the penalty is 33%. The virtue chance is always at least 1% and is capped at 60%" .

Well then hopefully the next time this person makes a discussion thread they'll be clearer about what they're looking for than "The title speaks for itself." Since obviously one of the two of us answered his question while the other either wasn't helpful or gave extra info.

Just to be clear, this isn't me being passive agressive towards you, Agony. I legit don't know which of the two of us actually answered his initial question since he has yet to post again in the thread.

If you want to see more virtues, get the +25% ancestral trinket; it'll double their chance. There's other items to increase it further, such as a +5% perk, but the cap is 60, so it'll never be a sure thing. If you're investing in virtues, stack low light items (ie dark crown) and just run with no torches. This is a good way to fight the shambler, and you get a better chance of finding it at 0 light, since it can then appear in hallway encounters.

Peace my man. Just trying to help a fellow gamer to enjoy the game . Nothing more. And yes, he could have been more clear in his question. :P

It´s capped, really? I thinked you could get 70% chance with specific trinkets and quirks. After hearing this I suppose that the mortal hit resistance is capped too

Where can that be found?

5 ancestrals are obtained only from the shambler. Each time you kill it, you'll get 1, until you have them all. You want to kill this thing 5 times for these, or until you get the ones you want. Afterwards, avoid it the rest of your life, because it's not worth it for gems. When hunting the shambler, I suggest doing so at the lower difficulties, and avoiding it on champion.

The rest of the ancestrals can be obtained anywhere the game rewards one. They are on long champion quests, the 1 time Vvulf quest, and in darkest quests. The most effective option is to just farm long champions until you get them all. After this, they will no longer be worth doing since they will switch to the same reward as mediums.

There's also 4 unique shrieker trinkets, which require fighting this annoying bird, without it robbing you, 4 times. If it robs you, then you do not get these on the reward, only what it stole from you or dead heroes.

Thanks. I got some ancestors items, but i guess some are shambler specifics then. Well, time to shuffle.
