Journal Entry 01 is nonexistant?
I finished the game many hamlet weeks ago and I am currently circling the ruins as I really wanted to collect all the journals before I start a new game as it is not carried over.

I have everything on the pages. However the 1 Journal that is supposed to be at 01 page is missing. I picked up about 3 more 'journal entries' from inside the dungeon but all of them gave me nothing at all. (or so I think, but not a journal)

Is this thing really non-existant or am I just having very bad luck.

I have the first journal entry in my save, so i guess it exists.
I could imagine if you ever threw one away instead of taking it to the hamlet it wont spawn again.
Are you sure you didnt do that?

I was waiting your response lol, I hoped you would see the question.

I am not sure... it might have happened in the very early stages like during the first 4 weeks of this game when I didn't know this was something that is 'collected'.

Well this I guess it's new game for me.

Is the save-disappearing issue still there? I could never create a new game in fear of losing my save.

Well, first of all thanks for holding my opinion in high regards.
i dont know of such an issue, but you could just backup your savefiles to make sure nothing is lost.

I had a Cleptomaniac hero steal a journal page once. Not sure if that screwed me over completionwise...

I've left Journal entries and had them reappear again, so that couldn't be the case.

Damn, then its another bug i guess...

I am also missing one entry but I have all "regular" ones, starting with Journal of Darius 1/6. Checking on wiki, it seems that the one missing is a message from Red Hook (A strange note, written on bloody human flesh).
By the way, was the drop rate for pages increased? These were supposed to be extremely rare and I managed to gather 21 pages before week 40.

Previously when I checked the "curio_type_library.csv" file around 4~5 months ago it was 20% under #20 "Bookshelf" and it still is 20% now. I agree I'm finding them a lot but apparently it's just luck.

So it seems it was already increased at that point. Wiki doesn't list Bookshelf as possible drop place at all and states that the highest value for other curios was 0.2 % at Black as Pitch.
Still, I would like to see some benefit from collecting all pages.
But back to original question. I'm guessing that the journal entry that I mentioned is hidden somewhere in the Darkest Dungeon and not random (the content looks like an easter egg), but I'm not far enough into game to verify.
If however, you are missing Journal of Darius 1/6 - you are experiencing a bug.

The very first Journal Page can be found in DD4 secret room . So you couldn't lost it earlier, though, since you already finished the game, you sadly have no chance to get it.

DD4? Wait, is there even a secret room in that stage, isn't it just a straight line?

Yes, quite a nice easter egg. I recommend checking it out :)

...I don't even think there even something there, ugh... I'll have to beat radiant mode and then I'll get there. What a long journey...

Final level of the game has a note that explicitly breaks fourth wall. It is note one so you even bother with e secret room, as otherwise you wpuld walk past as game ends after boss fight.
