WTF MAC?!?!
I just downloaded this game to my new macbook. I used to play this game at my windows os laptop (2012). The problem is this game is slow during battles....there seems to be no problem in town or while i watch the intro.

Red Hook a little help for mac people.

Im beginning to regret this mac switch from windows. Even my old laptop (not a gaming laptop) is more than reliable in simple games such as this. Considering that that laptop only has an integrated (built-in) video card, very basic. Anyway, im no expert in specs so i dunno.

By the way, this is my macbook spec:

1.1GHz dual-core Intel Core m3 processor (Turbo Boost up to 2.2GHz) with 4MB L3 cache
Configurable to 1.3GHz dual-core Intel Core m7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz) with 4MB L3 cache.

8GB of 1866MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory

Intel HD Graphics 515

macOS Sierra (10.12 or 10.12.5)

As I said, im no expert and Im not into tech. But it seems to me that this specs are way low....it feels like being ripped off. Anyway, nuffsaid, hopefully ill be back playing darkest dungeon in no time.

Short answer: because it's a mac.
They are mostly suitable for the target audience of apple products, people who want a good looking computer that is preferably thin and with a good screen when they check their instagram. And macbooks are just that. Memory cards are like 1/100000 of the price of he full machine, it's basically costs the same to put 2 or 8 gig in it. But graphic-accelerator cards for example are a different matter. Intel HD 515 is a low-end graphics-card suitable for watching videos mostly. Macs, especially older models are notorious about not providing enough in the graphics department even by the laptop standards of their release date.

Yah well that's what you get i guess when you let your eyes do the deciding...Anyway, i already had an inkling that apple is like that...why o why did i had to take a closer look at that macbook store...curse you sales lady!

Dagnamit! now my wallet's in Intensive Care Unit. On top of that, I can't play this beautiful piece of art of a game anymore............ why Redhook..... why?! why did i have to go and take a look at that sales lady... and why did i even have to listen to that sales talk...now Im left with only a cold.....steel.....rose gold macbook.......... And now I can no longer save our planet...goodbye Xcom 2...and I also failed humanity....so long Civilization: Beyond Earth..

Welp, at least until my wallet recovers from coma.

P.S. still hoping Darkest Dungeon with MacBook would get fixed.

UPDATE: WOW! its finally working! maybe because im playing like a vamp....(mac display light turned down to almost 20%)........i dunno. But hopefully this is fixed for good.

Game works fine on my MacBook Pro 2014, though I haven’t played after the latest patch (of DD).

I’ll take a look after work, tonight.

Edit: clarity

So I started a new game, played through the tutorial, and arrived at the hamlet.

One thing I notice is that they haven't fixed the trackpad sensitivity. You have to press a firm "click" for it to register, whereas for all other application, a feather tap is all you need.

Without having feather sensitivity for the trackpad, DD is kinda a pain to play for a long while.

Works fine on my 2014 iMac. It is irritating how little info steam gives about system requirements though, oh well better than amazon at least.

Same here. Making a "firm click" all the time. At first I thought a feather tap is good and that there's just somethin wrong with my fingers, soon i was tapping like crazy, fingers got tired so I settled with "firm clicking."

By the way, I think your Mac has better specs than mine since its a pro.

So ur a pro huh =D

Errr...sorry, but when someone owns a notebook with a 1.1GHz dual-core Core m3 and an Intel HD 515, checking system requirements should be last of his problems. Those are the specs of a 300 dollars chinese tablet, one cannot hope to buy a machine like that and play a videogame. That is not a PC, that is just a powerful typewriter.

It's not a point of going against Apple or Dell or Asus or whatever else, it's just that it is really low level hardware.

what we ought to be asking is why? where the hell is all this power going anyway?

I swear the gaming industry likes to put out games that are the equivalent of ordering some chineese food to eat on the aforementioned table and when it arrives it is delived by a sumo who sits on the table and eats with you. You are like "um I never asked for this but it's ok I guess". Next time you order the sumo shows up and this time hes in a clown suit and he wont stop jumping on the table. At which point any sane person would wonder "wtf why is this happening? did ANYONE want this? why do I need this with my chineese food?". Dont even get me started when he shows up with his buddy in a cop outfit who wont let you eat until he's called and checked your recipt against the restaurants copy (thank god darkest dungeon doesnt do that as far as I know).
