Call of Duty (2003)

Call of Duty (2003)

Buffer Overrun Detected - Game won't play-help
I just purchased the game and downloaded it.When I tried to play I saw this screen

Microsoft Visual C + + Runtime Library
Buffer overrun detected
Program:...\Steam\Steamapps\common\Call of Duty\CoDsp.exe

It's forcing me to close the game. It's unplayable.
I would expect as with most companies that deal in anything to do with video games,Steam has little to no actual support. So help would be appreciated.Thanks.

I have a solution for you

go to (C:) - Program Files (x86) - Steam. Find your Steam.dll, copy and paste it to your CoD folder ((C:) - Program Files (x86) - Steam - steamapps - Call of Duty)

Then find your Cod.exe file and change the name to mohaa.exe

Doing this, you will have to start the game directly from the folder itself, because if you try to start it from Steam, then you will get a certain error (can't remember exactly which error).

So, yeah, there you go. I had the same problem for about a week, just found the solution today. So, like I said, when you want to play CoD, just go directly to your CoD file and run the mohaa.exe, and viola! Enjoy the game.

(Same process if you have the same problem with United Offense)

I'm having trouble with this.
I can get to the file folder for Call of Duty. But I'm not seeing the COD.exe file.

It will be listed as CoDSP.exe, you can also save the multiplayer (CoDMP.exe) as mohaa(2).exe

For CoDMP.exe, name it as mohaa.exe as well, then your computer will tell you that there is already a file saved as mohaa.exe and it will ask if you would like to run it as mohaa(2).exe and when it asks that, then click yes

That might be a texture issue. I know that other than the buffer error, texture issues are also a big deal. Sorry, I'm no help with the texture problems, just the buffer issue

Where did you copy and paste the Steam.dll file? With CoD and CodUO, when you do this process, you have to do them to their individual folders.

So, go to your CoD folder, copy and paste the Steam.dll file and change CodSP.exe and CodMP.exe to mohaa.exe.

Then go into your CoDUO folder and do same process

I'm sorry this isn't working.I really don't understand the copy and paste step.I'm not sure if I did that correctly.I did replace the CoDSP with mohaa.exe.It's saying it's not a valid Win32 application. If I'm supposed to play from that,it's not working.
I'm sorry I'm not experienced with getting into the guts of the computers files and functions.I'm strictly intermediate with these kinds of issues.
