How to setup a dedicated server
I try to start a server from the multiplayer to play with friends online, i start the server and a console screen appears but I can't play because the game itself closes. And I can run it again from steam because it's already running.

You need to disable the 'Dedicated' option when you start the server (if using a config file, set dedicated to 0). If you have Dedicated set to LAN (1) or Internet (2) then you will end up with the Console box, which in effect is running a dedicated server.

Outside of Steam, if you had done this with the CD version, you would be able to start a dedicated server, keep it running and then open another instance of COD Multiplayer and be able to join the server. However with Steam I don't think you'll be able to run two instances.

Many places advise to run games twice is to load the games directly via the executables but whenever I try this I get 'Failed to find Steam'.

Two options:
- Rent a Gaming Server
- Run the game from another PC you own, however will likely require another Steam account and purchase the game again.
