What's with all the controversy surrounding Janey?

Everywhere I go, there seems to be people hating a perfectly likeable character. What's wrong with her anyway, her being a lesbian or something?

The point is, the vast majority of people who dislike Janey for being in your face about who she is, have no issues with Moxxi. I honestly think Janey was made as a response to people who got pissed about Hammerlock being gay (there were a lot of them), kind of an 'in your face' to those people.

Here my way in cause i hate springs. its not that she is gay, its not her voice or how she talks. It's that she's this crazy stalker ♥♥♥♥♥. She literally stalkes people to get them to see her/ ask her out and having had that done to me it drives me crazy.

Now this is a real reason to dislike her, but that is part of her charm.
You dont have to be liked by everyone to accept yourself as you are.

The problem is the character isn't well written and they essentially rely on her being gay to try and give her character. However ones sexuality alone does not give character and there is the problem. The game then has numerous chances to give her some character but insteed basically just has her say things showing that she is gay. Had their been a moment that really gave meaning to her 'need' to make it so clear etc, then it may have worked. But their wasn't anything that did so.

It's the first time I posted in this thread, how is that changing my position. Being that I am myself gay I don't think it is the fact that she is gay that is the problem, it is the sub par writting the permeates through a large portion of this game. My problem isn't that it was sexualized, its that she has many lines and her character doesn't evolve beyond she is gay which giving the amount of time she is present becomes tiring.
