Torgue pistols can even do twice the amount of damage with Double Penetrating!
The only advantage is the magazine size. The disadvantages are a higher recoil, lower elemental chance/damage, lower damage overall and worse reload speed.
If you want the AR-feeling, go for a vladof sniper ;)
That one combo makes the ar worth while.
While I know BL is hardly based on anything realistic, aren't assault rifles normally the standard in guns? I'm pretty sure, everywhere else, pistols are (on average) the lowest caliber guns. The only thing I can imagine is that all pistols in the BL universe are akin to Desert Eagles or other such high caliber, magnum'esque handguns.
Being an firearm enthusiath i can tell you, you are 100% wrong on pistols being smaller caliber, The standard military issue Assualt Rifle round is the .556 , AKA REM.223
The caliber of this bullet is actually about the same size as a .22 however the powder charge is much larger and muzzle velocity about 3 times higher than the pistol. 3000 + FPS
Pistols commonly range from 9mm up to, and some even exceeding, .50 Cal.
Pistols typically have a larger Caliber than most other carryable weapons
So in reality, are pistols more powerful than ARs? What advantages of AR over other weapons do you think that are not captured in this game?
Not nessisarily more powerfull, judgeing the power of a gun is not like being in a game and seeing what has the bigger dmg number, pistols are typically used as last resort guns when the enemy is in close range and you dont have your Rifle.
AR's are short-to mid range bullet hoses designed to give suppressive fire and take out whatever you can in a short burst.
The "power" of these guns then is hard to say as they are both lethal at range and close quarters, the only difference is that one excells in close quarters situatiuons (pistol), where as in a tight or squalid building / urban situation an AR might become a hinderance as you cannot turn arround or search the sourroundings as effectivly.
Real world physics dictates that anything with a longer barrle with have better accuracy/ higher muzzle velocity, and just impact the target with a greater amount of dmg. Games have a long way to go in seriously copying the gas preasure physics of actual firearms.
**Let try not to combine real physics and borderlands anymore its just gona give me a headach to come up w everything thats not realistic in a game that has cartoon pallets**
Thanks for the explanation.
The point is not about the game not realistic, but a major gun type lack of favor by most users. I find it ridiculous to see most supposedly badass vault hunters in BL2 holding a small piece of pistol (DPUH) running around.
