Shooting Star roid damage nerf?
I was farming for the sky rocket with a melee Athena and in the first run I was one hit killing all the enemies as usual but when I saved and quit to start the second run I noticed I was no longer one hit kiling everything and the roid damage for the shooting star has dropped down to on par with the big thumper and avalanche, I restarted the game and the shooting star was back up to it's extremely high roid damage, but dropped back down when i saved and quit. Is this a bug or a secret nerf that messed up??

So, what are the stat values before and after the nerf anyway? Not just the Roid, the whole thing, preferably.

I'm one of those people who doesn't have a Shooting Star, and the Wiki is taking its sweet time updating, so I am clueless on the matter.

The roid drop on the Shooting Star (my perfect parted one) went from 107460 at lvl 50 to 15014 at lvl 50
I also used gibbed to get perfect parts for the other 2 roid shields and the Shooting Star now has the lowest roid damage of the bunch, both the Avalanche and Bigg Thumper have slightly higher roid (by a couple hundred i think) and lower capcity but with other effects too.

It's a singleplayer game with coop features yes, still it affects other peoples playstile because a melee char was the best and fastest way to farm stuff, it's like a glitched moneyshot salvador. When they release uvhm and op levels its even more unbalanced. How does it affect others? It forces any serious item farmer into a melee char because farming items is all about beeing fast. There is always some kind of competition between players.

If you care about farming items in the most effective way -> it affects you
If you only play in a casual way -> it doesn't

And this item was way too op, dealing 100.000 damage in one hit with a single item on lvl 50 is just broken, its like an unpached and 4 times stronger bee shield.

oh you mean ninja looters.... yeah I hate them... but still no reason to nerf things in a co-op game... ah well what are you gonna do... gearbox done turned into EA, they dont' care what their fans want.... only what the loudest mouth breathers want.

So... instead of exercising self-restraint and using the best alternative that fits your desired playstyle, you would rather restrain everyone's options. Sounds pretty totalitarian to me.

Competition of the sort you mention is largely psychosomatic, much like how Claptrap takes deep breaths before entering vacuums, despite never actually requiring air.

Maybe he wants to use the shiny legendary shield, but a balanced version of it?

I dunno. I find it pretty stupid they bothered with fixing it honestly. I also think whining about it is equally dumb. I mean if you farm 12 hours to have a stupidly OP shield and no other reason, why not just save editor yourself one?
Quite frankly, the issue is the mere existence of Roid shields, from the start.

Meelee without them is useless. Roid shields shouldn't exist and normal meelee should be more useful instead.
Probably, their initial creation of the shield was meant to be 10-15k, but they accidentally added a 0 at the end, since 100k is able to kill nearly anything in an instant in this game.
lol its funny how developers constantly shoot themselves in the foot. There is a small 5% of gamers out there who are on the nerf train. They scream nerf everything nerf this nerf that anything that people use more then another item they scream nerf. The only reason developers listen is because that 5% is the most vocal gamers on fourms they are the hardcore ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that turn even a game like borderlands thats ment to be off the wall into a nerf fest. The other 95% of players dont get on the fourms and dont care about a weapon being overpowerd. Alas the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I thought i read somewhere gearbox said they was done listening to the 5% because when they did they screwed up borderlands 2. Something about targeting the everyday gamer yet here we go again just like what happened in bl2

90k damage on a roid shield was just asking to be nerfed. If you want a gun that can two shot boss enemies you can mod yourself a broken weapon.

a ravager on a moneyshot claptrap hits for 300k. and a flakker does more damage than that, why not nerf that

The nerf helps the everyday gamer. All the hardcores already have the Shooting Star anyways (probably Gibbed).... it's the normal players who dont and are, therefore, infinitely behind in times of power. By nerfing it, the power gap is much less, thus making it possible to have a more enjoyable game.

Thing is, to provide a game that is challenging, UVHM will need to be balanced around the best possible gear (just like BL2 was). As a consequence, the power gap between best and normal gear mustn't be too high, or the game will be unplayable for everyone who didnt Gib himself a DPUH+Bee, or Shooting Star.

Because 2 shoot Raid boss and its Moneyshoot so you cant use it Rapidly every second

That's a terrible comparison. Here's why:

The Flakker can do a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of damage, sure. But two things: First is that it requires a HUGE target to take all the pellets. Furthermore it takes a lot of set up, and over time the DPS is a LOT less. 300k every 10 seconds is a lot less than 90k+ every second.

takes 2 shots to empty a clip on a casual ravager. it's not every 10 seconds, less if you cancel reload

the shields din't have to be nerfed so hard, in my opinion not at all, since only athena can use them effectively as spamming her rush skill. the rest of the characters can't do that
