It took me over 50 kills to get a Thingy from Iwajira
Hell, given your examples you are complaining about a 25%, a 10% and a 50% drop rate. That's... insane. What is the point of a rare and special item if it drops every other kill?
50% for Zarpedon seems good - but remember that you normally cant even farm her, if you dont use save backups or something, and it's 2 boss fights in a row so really the drop rate is only half that, and she doesnt even drop anything else (Iwajira and the Sentinel are at least a great source of Moonstones, and drop a whole inventory full of weapons - Zarpedon gives 1 blue, 2 if you are REALLY lucky and a couple of whites from the Eternals.
As for your question: What is the point of cool, unique weapons if most players wont ever have them, unless they spend hours farming a boss that can only be farmed at a point when you dont really need anything anymore?
Lastly, with the way the Grinder works and most legendary weapons not even having a drop location (or at least not a farmable one) lots of frequent drops are pretty much needed as a raw material.
After ~8 hours total, spread over several days, I got all lvl 50 legendaries I ever wanted and many more (the bank has way too less storage space).
After that I farmed the Sentinel for some time, nothing droped, fight also way too easy, got bored. Started BL1, still playing it now as Mordi level 63, much more fun and legendaries actually are farmable from chests/BA and they drop pretty frequently. That's how I like it.
Unfortunately I cant play BL1. I'm from Germany, it's censored here.
As for Vendor legendaries, I made it a habit to check them whenever I pass by one during gameplay or at the start of a run, but it gives veeeeery little (except for Celestial Gladiators, which I got twice).
So is it still non-Steam? If yes, I might actually get one as a christmas present for myself
Googled for an uncut patch but I only found one, which seemed rather untrustworthy... as in Get-your-virus-here untrustworthy.
The retail GOTY version of BL1 still works without steam, yes :)
- complains about it not easy to get
for real though, legendaries are (at least suppose to be) the best gear in the game they suppose to be rare
The first problem with this, is you're unlikely to see one on your first playthrough.
The second problem, is after completing your first playthrough, you don't actually need to gear up for anything because there's not an MMORPG endgame that requires the loot.
The third problem, is that because this isn't a true MMO, there's no anti-hack or server-side, so you can just edit your savefile to get the item.
For me, they should appreciate 99% of people aren't going to return to the game after a playthrough on normal and TVHM, and set the loot drop rates accordingly so people actually see the cool weapons before they shelve the game. Or, they need to make a game with actual endgame content (PvP, PvE, whatever, tbh), and make some effort to prevent easy loot hacks, to give an incentive to grind.
Crappy luck with legendaries (That I use), but awesome luck with luneshine weapons. Found a SMG with shield bypass bullets (Might have been the Sniper I found, though).
Exactly. I mean, I can see why you have too low drop rates in a game like Diablo 3 (though, funnily, even there the game was hugely improved, imo, when they buffed them to the current situation where it is not unusual to have BiS sets after 40 hours). But here, all it achieves is glitching.
Honestly, for me, the best, most reliable way to get weapons was getting a weapon once, duping it 5 or 6 times using save backups, then grinding it and Alt-F4 till you get the one you want. That's.... really not how it should be.
And it doesnt work on classmods and shields, which is why I dont have them yet...
It's even worse for most guns because they are unfarmable. My favorite weapon in the game so far is the Torrent, for example, which drops from Meg. But Meg is non-respawning, and she drops it so rarely that I was probably really lucky to get one once in normal mode.
Honestly, if you are going to have non-respawning enemies, at least make them drop their stuff with 100% chance.
Lastly, legendaries aren't even necessary or anything - I have a purple lv48!!! shotgun that is so insane I can kill the sentinel's face in 2 shots....
