Cannot find the force field controls

In "Intelligences of the Artificial Persuasion" I'm looking for the force field controls but the way in is completely blocked off. There don't appear to be any entrances into the room I need to go.

I tried jumping across from where the atmosphere generator is outside but it won't let me land on the platform.

Is there a switch somewhere to open the door that leads in?

The map shows a hallway leading to the area but there is a door there blocking the path and it cannot be opened.

Thanks I got it though. The reason I wasn't able to find the crew quarters is because after killing poop deck I went back to get the red chest instead of dropping down the elevator shaft!

To get back you go back through the engine room, back into the tube, through the engine compartment and, if you left the game like I did, you then fight poop deck again.

Once you are in the room with the blood on the wall where poop deck dies you drop down the elevator shaft and you can continue the quest.

Cool tidbit - going back had its rewards!

Got the red chest (again) and the white chest (again) with purple items after going through the engine room.
