Still stuck on the preload waiting for game release {SOLVED}
Seriously. WTH. It's been 3 days now since I played it and it still wont let me play :/

Anyone have a work around?

Edit: Solution is to delete everything in the steam folder except steamapps and steam.exe then launch it and wait for it to redownload and patch.
More details further down. Thank you to Sanyasin for pasting the solution.

can you delete local content and download again
Centrelink Bogan Oct 18, 2014 @ 10:50pm
others have tried that and still stuck.
Guydodge Oct 18, 2014 @ 10:56pm
have you tried logging off of steam and signing back in

Ii played it for 5 hours then went to sleep. Came back the next day and it's telling me preload is complete. I

Is there any reason that Steam would think you're currently in Japan?

"waaahhh, Seriously. WTH. It's been 3 days now since I played it and it still wont let me play :/" It's launch day bugs, every game has them to some extent. It doesn't seem to be a common issue though otherwise someone would have either a work around or an aswer.

Just got to keep checking back and wait for the 2k support

Yep, thats right Sanyasin. And that's exactly what I'm doing, also helps to keep this issue bumped on the forums
Still no response from 2k or Steam.
The waiting continues.

The "waaahhh" on both accounts was rude and unhelpful. I just don't like that there are issues and yet the devs and steam remain silent - no acknowledgement that there are issues and they are working towards/investigating them. In the meantime, you (and others, including my son) are left without digital goods that you paid for in good faith (although I broke the rules). If you read the EULA you have no rights whatsoever in regard to your purchase and they can change the EULA at any stage - if you don't accept it, you lose access to all of your steam library. This is partly why I wont be purchasing through steam anymore. You can probably also expect that this discussion will be locked by a mod who doesn't like my comments.

This issue has happened before for other games, like Splinter Cell and Fable 3. The only solution that resolved it appears to be wait for a steam rep to answer your ticket and provide a screen shot of the issue.
I don't understand what the 'broke the rules' comment is about? The game has been legally purchased, I assume by yourself too. How you aquired it is your business all that's certain is a number of people are waiting for a Steam rep to answer their ticket to fix the issue.

Same boat as me. I bought the hard copy on the 18th from EB in Brisbane and it's stuck at pre-load still. Wish Steam Support would take their repsective fingers out and help the many many users with this problem. ._.

Should have waited until 14th to install and go to Queensland...Now I am still waiting for the damned game for me to install...Shouldn't the release date be 17th in Australia..?

I wonder if it's possible that Valve forgot to set retail versions in Aus live? Something similar happened to Sacred 3 in Japan. You may want to raise this with Gearbox and 2K. They will likely be able to fix it if they know it's happening.

Most people are able to play their game (a mate of mine has been playing). It seems not to be widespread, but limited to us 'lucky' few. I purchased the game legally, it relates to another matter involving a VPN.
Centrelink Bogan Oct 19, 2014 @ 5:49pm
No VPN. Although I am tempted to get a free one and try to see if it's region locked for some unholy reason or just bugged.
2 days after submitting tickets, no response.
Sanyasin Oct 19, 2014 @ 6:54pm
It's not region locked (tried deleting and downloading via VPN - no good).
