The Cat-o-Nine-Tails is HORRIBLE.
So I got lucky and got a Cat-o-Nine-Tails from a large Meteor, and I have to have, its Junk. Its Red Text splits the beam into 9 smaller beams on contact with a surface, which then bounce before disappearing. Now this Sounds Awesome, but heres the thing. The innital beam Deals extremely low damage (180 at level 35) and Passes through the target. Meaning, chaces are you are not going to hit anything with the beams outside of a closed room.
Has Anyone found ANY use for this weapon but Grinder trash?

You can't even grind red-text weapons, so amusingly it's not even good for that.

you have to grind two legendaries and a purple to create a legendary, and legendaries have red text.

Oh wait lol, I get what he was saying lol, I though he was talking about Boss grinding there for a Sec. Ya, if you stick two Legendaries, a Purple, and some moonstone in the grinder, you get back a Legendary of the Purples type (I.E a Purple Sniper will give a Legendary Sniper).

As it stands, the Cat-o-Nine-Tails is nothing more than Grinder Trash, unless someone has found a use for it.

I play as Athena and the Cat o nine tails is EXTREMLY good at killing Iwajira at level 50 and good at general combat but shines against big enemies.

Cat o nine tails is just a shot speed up. You should never take it unless you have brimstone or mom's knife.

How do you use it then? I could see it if if Split on Contact with a Mob, but it just goes right through them, leaving you with just a low powered Blaster.

Think of it as the fibber from BL2, shoot the ground and have the extra beams it splits into hit the target for massive damage. This is why it's better at bigger targets, easier to get all the extra shots to hit. After using it for some time I can safetly say this is my favorite blaster type laser gun.
you probably don't know how to use it or you do but you still find it difficult to use, like the Fibber in BL2. These both are deadly for sure you shoot it at the ground and ricochet( idk spelling right ?) back to enemies and deal very high dmg

I don't know much about classes outside Athena, but Cat o' Ninetails is great for her Maelstrom builds. Like others have said you have to shoot the ground in front of enemies, or otherwise deflect it off of other surfaces near them. Think of it as a skill shot weapon, not a point n shoot.
