SO TIRED of game crashing!
First off, my rig is plenty powerful to run this game. I played the first 2 Borderlands with no issues, ever. However, a month or so ago I started to play some more BL2 and I continually kept getting crash to desktop issues. (I played it after launch for 3 months without ONE issue.) I have uninstalled BL2, reloaded all the extra programs it asks for, etc and updated drivers to no end. The only thing that helped somewhat was to drop the physx down to minimum, but that's crap IMO that I can't play without that maxed.

Now the Pre Sequel launches and I of course do a fresh install of all and I am periodically getting the same crash to desktop, just like I got with BL2. I can run ANY game out there without EVER having ANY kind of problems. Many are DX11 games with settings maxed all the way out.

I search for help and can see a LOT of guys with the same problems, but none of the solutions keep the game stable. SOmetimes I can play for a few hours without a problem, sometimes it crashes 3 times an hour.

My rig specs: I7 2600K, 16GB ram, GTX 680, Windows 7 64bit, numerous hard drives, etc etc. Again, I can play any game I want fully maxed and never have these kinds of issues.

EDIT: This is a coding issue and is being addressed by 2K, thank God. Their forums are filled with posts similar to this one. Waiting for a ptach it looks like!

That did absolutely nothing for me. Just followed the steps to do a complete clean install of my 344.11 drivers, and it crashed again within a minute. I tried changing the physx settings to my 770 through the nvidia control panel and it crashed even quicker. Anyone else have any ideas? I got in touch with gearbox support and they told me to do the same thing I mentioned I tried previously. Sigh*

Did you reinstall the C++? Also, go download your motherboards audio drivers and do a fresh load of those too. Oh, are you running your rig in Sli?

Reinstalled C++ redist. Reinstalled Audio. Didn't help.

So I tried disabling SLI. Seems that may have been the culprit. So far no crashing / freezing with SLI disabled.

2x GTX 980s.

I'm only running with one GTX 770, so no SLI option =[

Disabled my anti virus and now it works fine, might just be auto sandboxing that comodo has, or something else. Either way, few hours later it hasn't crashed.

Wow look at that. I turned off the comodo candboxing and everything seems to be playing fine. Ill reply if i get another crash

I run:

Core i7 2600K
Gigabyte GTX 780 3GB superclocked
16GB Hyper X 1600 DDR3

I was also experiencing crashes in BL2 and TPS (frozen or blacked out screen / audio still playing) Sometimes it required a hard reboot after the freeze.

I did a clean install of all nvidia drivers / geforce experience and C++

Deleted the game - reboot and reinstalled.

I used Gigabyte OC Guru and underclocked the core speed of my GPU by 100mhz.

I was able to play for 2 hours without any crashes in TPS and and 45 min in BL2 without crashing at maxed out settings including maxed out PhysX. (Normally BL2 wouldn't make it 5 minutes without crapping itself)

The whole thing honestly makes no sense. I played over 50 hours straight in BL2 before the crashes started to happen with stock settings (no underclock) on my GTX 780. TPS started locking up after the first 5 minutes.

It seems a lot of the freeze problems are happening to 700 series cards with intel processors rather than AMD + 700 series. ???

I will update if I have any more problems but the underclock seemed to do the trick for me so far...

Well, my woes still continue, although very spaced out. For giggles I deleted TPS and reinstalled it onto a fresh, unused 80GB SSD drive just to make sure there wasn't a read write thing happening. Still froze up just now.

WHen mine crashed the last 2 times it was right when triggering something. the first one was when i clisked on to move to another area and the other one was when I clicked on jack to have him progress the story.

I guess I will keep looking!

Have you tried disabling your anti virus? Thats what worked for me.

mine is still crashing. i can run other games no problem, but for some reason when i'm trying to build the digikey the whole laptop shuts down. it's getting really annoying. had NO problems with BL2 either.

YUP, AV is disabled. I also uninstalled it and still get the occasional crash still.

HOWEVER!

Look what I read from 2K's website!

Game Crashes on PCs

"We've become aware of a potential issue that may cause Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel to freeze and crash on certain PCs using various graphics cards. The dev team is looking into this and we hope to have an update soon."

FIgures! I know Ive said this before and it was met with a few small arguementitive replies, but I really, really don't think these crashes has anything to do with my PC. I have 137 games in my Steam Library. No, I haven't played them all (thank you Steam bundle sales!) but I have played A LOT of them including all the Crysis games, Both Metro's, many in the COD series, All Bio Shocks, All Splinter Cell's, etc, etc ALL maxed out completely and I have NEVER had a freeze, crash, stutter, or anything. Most that I mentioned are WAY more graphic intensive than the BL series. I can also run any GPU benchmark I want for as long as I want, and CPU benchmark, and memtest for days without a hiccup.

So, I'm done trouble shooting my PC. I was hoping I could find and tweak whatever it is that isn't jiving with something on my system but ther isn't anything left for me to check. Hopefully the boys at 2K can get to the bottom of this.

Running a gtx 780 and getting random crashes also. Its pretty annoying.
Introspection Oct 17, 2014 @ 6:07pm
The problem is a memory leak that gets worse as you progress further into the game. It happens when processing explosions most of the time, but it also happens randomly and when entering new areas. The leak is caused when the game fails a pass to load a feature. The problem gets worse when running on multiple cores, using 8 cores of my computer the game drops frames every other time I shoot now with claptrap as I produce explosions every time I reload and shoot my gun. I tried this running 4 cores and it didn't help, but when I ran on 2 cores the game took much longer to load but it loaded safely and worked for almost an hour without dropping frames. Problem is the game runs at a much slower 15-30 fps when running on 2 cores than when running on 8 at 120 fps and above, and it also fails. I heard the problem doesn't occur on 1 core but I am going to test that now, but the load times will be huge and my fps will be even worse but playable. This needs a fix now, I hope someone doing the patch reads this comment so they know exactly what to look at.

I have similar random crashes only with this game, never had a crash with bl2.
Game just freeze sometimes, blackscreen sometimes also, i have to contr alt delete it, then it says bl has stopped working en blabla.

Its 100% this game, i dont have this with other games, my gtx 690 nevers gets temps higher then 55 and 60.

I put in a ticket (through 2k's forums to 2K's support site) with a couple of screen shots of the error message I sometimes get. They need to fix this crap. I can't believe they can't get a stable running environment on a DX9 game.
