Can you change characters midgame?
Can I change my character in any of the borderland games mid-campaign.. or do I have to start a whole new campaign?? If I have to start a new one, that's the most retarded thing ever. Thanks

Gibb, if it works, yeah, if you want to mod you file, if not, then NO, you can't. I copied my main character in BL2 after 1st play thur and play the other 5 in TVHM.

(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ shouldn't have to modify files to do this. Serious game flaw on an otherwise perfect game imo. I mean how many downloadable characters do they have avaliable these days?? Not to mention the vault hunter expansions. At the very least you should be free to change character after the frist game run-through. Oh well :/

well, each character you start saves where you left off on that character.

meaning you could make all 4 characters but the campaign saves progress for each individual character.

another example: you could have 16 characters, all of them in different parts of the story depending on how far you made it on each idividually, then pick up where you left off as per where you saved.

if that makes sense.

Um, I think I follow. So if for example I complete 50 missions and am level 20 with siren, then switch to asassin, the game will continue at level 20 with the 50 missions completed as before?

Oh ok so you are saying the missions stay completed, but the character levels are unique to the character chosen?

Ok, so if you are 10% into a story with one and 55% throug with another, then that means to me each character is essentially a new champaign right from the start of the game then

also i think i misread you question in the OP.

i thought you were asking if you could only have 1 character at a time and so forth.

oh maybe so, Yes I want to play a champaign like normal and then if I feel like it mid way thought I can change my character and continue as normal otherwise with missions completed and whatever level I am at sticks. Sounds like its not going to happen :/ oh well

it sucks kinda, but also nice to be able to start a fresh character if we feel like it.
yeah I guess. I find it hard to look at the huge list of downloadable characters they have on the store page and think that if someone at level 60 wants to 'try out' a character they may or may not like ... then they have to start alll the way back at the beginning. For what? Doesnt make sense to me from a business point of voew, especially with their vault raider packs that let people go even further. Anyhoo Im ranting, its late, cant wait for the prequel!!! Thanks for the info and cya C:

...there are 2 DLC characters in BL2, total of 6 with the 4 of the base game, not that many...

The thing about creating a new character is each will have their own story and individual dialogue from NPCs and your character. So it should feel like a new game each time.

And when starting a new character from the start you get used to their action skill as it grows.

if you really want to change your character mid game and not start a new character, you are gonna have mod it, no if, ands or buttocks about it. Like I said, after my first play thur, I copied and mod my Giage character and played each character in TVHM. The only way you will be able to change your character and maintain your level in the game is to modify it.
(my two cents)
