Anthony Burch being childish/against #GamerGate
I won't be purchasing this, because of Anthony Burch acting like a child and blaming our video game movement for actions of trolls. He's disgusting and I won't take part in anything he makes anymore. No one has to follow me, but it has to be said. https://twitter.com/reverendanthony He is now backpedaling, because of the amount of negative PR and people are cancelling preorders. I refuse to be ripped off by Early Access games and I refuse to be ripped off by AAA games.

If anyone wants to help us/learn more about our cause [#GamerGate] and [#notyourshield] is where we're at on Twitter. We are essentially leading a movement against corruption in video games, journalism and anti-gamer rhetoric. Quick place to learn more. -> https://github.com/GamerGateOP/GamerGateOP/blob/master/FAQ.md

If the thread is locked or I am banned, then I'll be adding it to the repository for censorship and corruption at GamerGate. We won't be silenced.

Game on, friends.

My order stays, I will be playing it, you have every right to not do so. Bet really, when in history have the few bad apples NOT made the group look bad? You linked one thing that says it best, you are BOTH wrong (groups), a snipit:

"Some of this group of self-identifying gamers are indeed bad apples. As video games and other hallmarks of so-called nerd culture have gone mainstream, some of the most die-hard occupants of the culture have circled the wagons. Some even issue death threats or rape threats to female developers and writers, or engage in other types of harassment, because they see feminism and its proponents as an existential threat to not just their hobby, but their identity.

Some of these gamers really do hold deeply sexist viewpoints, which makes writing what I’m writing now somewhat precarious. I am not an ally to misogynists, but I’m not impressed by many of their critics either.

But bad apples do not create an identity for an entire group of people, and critics and journalists who attempt to destroy a word in the name of politics are not furthering some noble goal, some cultural evolutionary step. As if by proclamation anyone could declare a word dead to begin with."

In MY personal opinion, anyone calling Tiny Tina racist is the racist one, nothing about her puts down or ridicules a race. Badonkadonk, LOL.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vNVguvNE7qc

Midget? I would think "Little person" would be the insult, they are not full people, only little? To me a three foot tall man named Jack Whatshisname is Jack or Mr Whatshisname, not little person.

Some people make a career of being insulted and put down, there is only ONE person that gives anyone the power to make you feel bad, that is YOU.

I think I will ask my wife if she wants me to put in a pre-order for her as well.

You know official little people groups and activists all agree on being called lil' people right? It doesn't matter what you and I think, it's what they want and it's reasonable.

It is true that there will ALWAYS be as.sholes. There will ALWAYS be bad people. But the bad people claiming to be "#Gamergate" or just "gamers" in general AREN'T getting paid, they AREN'T journalists and there is NO WAY to hold them accountable, short of calling the police (if it is a crime, of course). We are 100% in favor of condemning anyone in our group that is malicious and any of them that would do anything to harm any person need to be dealt with by authorities. The only problem is that those things only apply to US. Gaming journalists/Dev's that commit fraud, racketeering, harassment, or anything else? Nothing. Absolutely NOTHING. That's the point. Stephen Totilo specifically stated that giving money to Patreons while being a reviewer is WRONG. He then backtracked with his latest article and responded with, "Well... I didn't know that people in my group were funding Patreons. So I guess I'll update the policy to say it is okay now". None of these companies are policing themselves. Anthony is just another person participating in a smear campaign to diminish gamers AND #gamergate, distract the attention away from his friends/journalists and will face 0 consequences for any of it.

We are LITERALLY the only people that will punish them or give them any sort of consequences. They aren't running companies, they are running a Blog with their friends. There is no “journalism” they aren't “reporters”, they are glorified bloggers.

Self regualting never works. You see that everywhere in the US to Europe to Australia.

However WE the "gamer" are these Journo's source of income us comming to thier sites keep them chugging along. And it's these same folks that mock Youtube Gaming Journalists as "amatures" most there are small so they get ignored by the AAA industry most of the time so they don't get bribed.

Wow, do you NOT see anything wrong with that statement? Did you NOT actually read that article you linked? The ONLY way to win is...... You are on a slippery slope, you may well have good intentions but it could get nasty, and you guys could end up with dirty hands so to speak. If a blogger says something you don't like, who are you to punish them, should they also punish you? And, the dog chases it's tail.

lol Yeah. They definitely have some audacity, running their mouths about people that are a lot more ethical than them.
Here's the latest in the battle against Gaming. Gamesutra is one of our blacklisted unethical sights Aka: Leigh Alexandar and her crusade against being anything resembling integrity.

Official groups, so, who made them "official", sounds like a group who have a common ideology and that in no way speaks for all. I can think of one, back in the 70's, he would have gotten angry if you called him little person. I thought he was a giant, he was in to stunt work, hard working, smart and really good at stunts. I think they are people, just people but I can't understand how anyone would wish to be called little, yes I hung with the carnies a lot, was around midgets and dwarfs (not the same thing), I also was around many ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I don't recall ever knowing any who had issue with the word midget, just some who used it trying to be mean.

Anyway, if one asked me to call him or her little person I would continue to call him/her by his/her name, they are just as big as any where it counts, I am 5'6" and I would not want a 7' person calling me little person, but my name is good :claugh:

Good day :)

lmao. Alright. Let's tackle this one by one.

First of all, you really should research this stuff.

Second,
You are on a slippery slope, you may well have good intentions but it could get nasty, and you guys could end up with dirty hands so to speak

How is boycotting their sites, contacting their advertisers, and telling people that they are unethical going to give us, "dirty hands"? Sounds like you have ideas in mind that you are trying to place on us.

a blogger says something you don't like, who are you to punish them, should they also punish you? And, the dog chases it's tail.
lol. They AREN'T bloggers. I was saying that they were "glorified bloggers". They are CLASSIFIED as "journalists" and "reporters". They have ties with dev's, promotion and reviews that involve MONEY .

Who am I to punish them? Uh... That's the point of boycott's, strikes, impeachment...etc. lmao. We aren't going out and giving people flogs. We are legitimately going after corrupt people by means of word-of-mouth and litigation.

Who am I to punish them x2 ? A vide game enthusiast, an American, and a humanist.

WOW I'll go on part by part. I might skip some parts because i might not know what to say.

1. "Man years" i know of man hours used as a term for labour but here she seems to be hitting the anti-man card early...well that's the view i'm getting.

2. "the DOA boob jiggle phyics" yes as a male gamer i am ashamed of that game. should it not be made...no, why? Well as the US says "FREEDOM ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥"

3. "the Indie problem" I do think there is a problem in the Indie industry but it's one of coppying successful games and decrying those who make it big.

4. "who cares who Zoe banged or not banged" Well there's this thing called ethics. heard about it?

5. "Anita S" Funny thing most of the big Youtube Gaming people like Jesse Cox and Total Biscute agree with her on most facts. I even do but i don't see them as sexist just lazy and poor story elements. doesn't shelp that she is a master at playing the victim.

Yes us "Gamer men" have an issue, we do it's true but the gaming media isn't helping by comming at us like rabid dogs with the Facist like "modern" Femminsim circling us like sharks crying sexist and mysoginistic to any who dare use logic and reason to combat them. Doesn't help with all the knee jerk "trolls" and SJW joining the fray.

TL;DR There is this thing called ehtics and Gaming Journo's never had it and are now after being caught big time and running like roaches and blaming us the Gamer. Also we do need to root out our share os sexists pigs but that will be worse and harder the the "Mainstream Gaming Journos" growing some ethics.

Many things start out all for the good, then comes the "by whatever means necessary", win no matter what. Contacting advertisers can be called bullying you know, many have done it and some not for the right reasons.

OK, near as I can tell, some jerk said some not so nice things about gamers, and as it turns out some are exactly that. Is it wrong to make a blanket statement, well yes, I am just saying be careful of what you do or in the effort to right a wrong you may do a wrong.

Well, good for you, not a thing wrong with being that. I spend a lot of time playing games on my PC, I can say I have met a minority of "gamers" that to borrow from "Gaige EW EW EW". Once again, that article you linked, how does it he say you win?

If someone actually committed fraud then you should hand over evidence and let the courts do what they can, if someone said something that hurt your feelings, get thicker skin and don't let them upset you.

I find them a none issue, I don't read their trash, I live my life and play my games on my terms, I have no time to worry about all the awful stuff people say about others but that is me, you may do so, all I am saying is be mindful that as someone said, the road to hell is paved with good intentions, be careful and good luck.

I am NOT an activist, so, no with joining anything, I am too lazy LOL

Good day :)

/facepalming right now. You obviously don't greet a much shorter individual and proceed to call him little person. The only exception is when you're trying to describe to a person that short individual.
There's no good way to describe little people but it's the least worst way to describe the condition and majority of people agree. The 70s was a different time man, and politically correct terms were still new. For gods sake we were stilling using the word negro in forms for people to fill out at the doctors office.
So in modern today, if you're going to have to describe someone in that circumstance, just use little people. For example, if you have to tell a close friend, "Many celebrities like Verne Troyer and Warwick Davis would not like to be called midgets and if they have to be called something, they prefer 'little people'."

I was gonna pre-order this game, having immensely enjoyed Borderlands 2 (and in spite of hating the first game), but I'm gonna go buy it second-hand for my dusty Xbox 360 instead. I'll be using that pre-order money towards a charitable cause instead (you know the one). :bandit:

You worry about what some dbag says somewhere in the ether? Is/was the game good? Did this guy have something to do with it? What if someone else involved is an anti-semite? Or a racist? Just because they didn't come out and say it doesn't mean they don't believe those things...BTW...I could use social media to seemingly espouse any belief system I wanted...whether i ACTUALLY believe them or not...how many of you whiners actually know the people you're railing against? NOT a DAMNED one of you...just something you read on twitter...

Why is there a need for "little person" in this, why not just gender, skin tone, hair style, clothing and height, in feet+inches etc?

In some ways, more honest. Fewer people cared near as much about PC. I grew up with kids of other races, my dad was by today's standards very racist but he never played like he was not. Now people claim to be tolerant and are really not, go modern time huh?

edit: the word is still in use, United Negro College Fund.

I don't much care for special interest groups, but I also can not tolerate anyone who makes fun of or belittles anyone because they don't happen to be the same. I think "little people" is selling them short (no pun intended), they are people, some people are like eight feet tall, some are short, they are people. If they want to call themselves little people though that is fine, I call them by name when I know it and sir/mam when I don't.
