A standard 1080p monitor is more than big enough for split screen, there are already several split screen games that work just fine on PC, and there's no reason it wouldn't work on PC if it can work on a TV with console, besides which anyone can just hook their PC into their TV for like $12.
I have a standard 1080p monitor and play several games split screen. My nephew is quite fond of Sonic Adventure 2 and Portal 2, by the way, Portal 2 has split screen local co-op and full gamepad support and no one's ever complained about it.
This game has full gamepad support, the console version has split screen.
This game has full gamepad support, it's also on console, and has local co-op on console. A lot of people use gamepad already for single player and online multiplayer.
There are quite a few games with a 2 player mode and split screen, the majority don't, this is one of them.
Traditional LAN works fine, up to 4 PCs the same as PC LAN co-op has been for +20yrs, maybe they'll put a console/arcade style split screen for BL3 but I wouldn't hold my breath.
There are several games that run at 1080p Split Screen Local Co-Op already and there's no reason for a game to have local Co-Op on Console but not PC.
We can't all be rich enough to buy three rigs capable of running the game with separate monitors and controls and three separate copies of the game and we don't all even have the living space to accomidate such a set up but even if I had a room full of PCs the experience would be less enjoyable than sitting on a couch playing split screen with my friends and nephew on a monitor or tv.
I have several PCs and I like separate screen better, so I never messed with the split-screen mod.
So, because I prefer to play one person on my PC, I am a cave troll?
So, now I am not so much a cave troll as rich? I did not buy my PCs, I built them and not all in the same day. My Wife's PC is on this desk, that I built, her seat is just enough to my right to allow me room for my mouse mat. I can glance over at her display, she can glance over at mine. If you like sitting on a couch then good for you, consoles are calling to you, nothing wrong with that, I think they are perfect for that. We like keyboard/mouse for games like this, she uses a controller for platform games though.
And NOW if people's rigs can not do split screen they need to upgrade? What if they are not, rich? The only "reason" would be low demand, stop complaining here and tell the developers what you want, if enough ask it is normally done.
As I said before you decided to call me a cave troll is that I have no problem with them adding that but it is not something I would use.
Now I am confused, am I a cave troll, am I rich, am I a rich cave troll?
Is there a reason that you think your personal preferences should be forced onto everyone else? Is there a reason you're unable to comprehend the possibility that other people might actually have people over in the same room with them?
Well don't you just have a special set of circumstances. You still had to buy three copies of the game, unless you illegally downloaded it.
I shouldn't have to spend $300+ dollars on a console to access options from a game that's on PC, if a PC game has options on a console it should have the same options on PC, besides I enjoy a variety of PC games, but I also happen to have people over in the same room with me and when I do it's nice to be able to fire up multiplayer games, PC Devs shouldn't arbitrarily restrict PC gamer's ability to share in experiences in the same room when console gamers can.
If people are running a ten year old system with a 768p monitor or less than 4gb of ram yeah they need to upgrade or they aren't going to be able to play a lot of games.
Everyone else shouldn't have options taken away from them just because some people have crappy rigs.
Were you REALLY too stupid to read what I said?
"As I said before you decided to call me a cave troll is that I have no problem with them adding that but it is not something I would use."
Oh yes, I think my way or the highway, WAIT, that's right, I said I had not problem with that feature being in game, I only said I would not use it.
I think your name is accurate.
