Chronological Order
just wanted to ask a updated way to play the games in chronological order since a lot of people say to play BL1 > BL2 > TPS and so on, but some others say to play TPS before BL2 and play part 1-3 of Tales and it's overall a mess

so i wanted a "2024 updated" chronological order to play the games since i bought the handsome collection quite a while back, does DLC also need to be played if it means it's important to the story?

The games were released BL1 > BL2 > TPS > BL3 but chronologically they take place BL1 > TPS > BL2 > BL3. TPS is a 'prequel' to the 'sequel'. I'd suggest playing in order of release date as each release improved gameplay so playing BL2 after TPS may feel like a step backwards.

I think Tales takes place between B2 and B3 and new Tales after B3.

I suggest playing BL:TPS AFTER playing BL2.

While most of the action of BL:TPS takes place before BL2, the framing story is set after BL2, and contains spoilers for BL2.

Further, I think BL:TPS has more impact if you're already played BL2. If you play BL:TPS first, you'll think "yeah, okay, so?" whereas if you play BL2 first, then you spend all of all of BL:TPS saying "Wait, wait-wait-wait, what? WHAT?"

A clarification:

BL TPS was released after BL2.
Game intro is after BL2 and moves into telling the events of what happened before BL2.
BL TPS as such with intro and spoilers is designed as if you have played BL2.

That is why BL1 > BL2 > BL TPS > BL3 as the order of launch takes into account the games released prior.

BL2 DLC Tiny Tina's Attack on Dragon's Keep AFTER main story othwise main spoilers or at least lost of continuity if a replay.

BL2 DLC Fight for Sanctuary just before going into BL3 as it is a tie-in DLC.

this makes it a lot clearly for me, i always thought TPS was before BL2 since you know "The Pre-Sequel", now i fully understand this strange game's lore
