Question: If a new dlc is released for this game, would anyone buy it?
I've read that the presequel had some unfinished dlc that was scrapped. Seeing how Gearbox had the history of making a dlc years late (like once, I know) there is a small chance that this game might ever see another dlc.

personally I doubt it, as Gearbox wants to focus on the new movie and rumored fourth game. But I found it disappointing that this game only had one good DLC with the other one just a arena dlc and I dont really like arena in borderland games.

Hell no.

Commander Lilith DLC was added to promote Borderlands 3; it wasn't some altruistic idea for the fans. The DLC messed with in-game balance, made people refarm perfect gear, had mediocre writing and failed at its fundamental purpose which was to bridge the gap between 2 and 3.

TPS is forgotten and abandoned, it is way more likely to see Wonderlands 2 even though the 1st didn't perform amazingly, than it is to see a DLC for this game.

The other DLC (which was only in early development) was tentatively called Luxy's Space Adventure. Nominally, it was going to be a space cruise ship where the Vault Hunters had gone to relax, but which was attacked by Pirates.

The project wasn't really much beyond the concept phase.

I would have loved it, and purchased it. But ... it's as Ad Hoc said, it's really too late to go back to a project that old. Anything Gearbox does going forward will either be a DLC for one of the newer games, or a new game entirely.

It's an endless disappointment to me that BL:TPS has only one major DLC. If it had just a bit more content (one, maybe two more story DLCs), it would have probably rivaled BL2 for enduring popularity (if not initial sales popularity).

But it doesn't and the team that made the original game (2K Australia), and the in-house Gearbox team that made the Claptastic Voyage have both been scattered to the winds.

Unfortunate I agree with all statements here. If all BL games was moddable to the extent of minecraft/fallout then we'd see more content, even restored cut content like the unfinished DLC. But thats impossible at this point.

As for late game I never put that into consideration as I never did Borderlands lategame stuff like finding the best weapon for OP10 as I find more enjoyment from leveling up.I dont think Presequel has any good lategame content as I never see youtube videos with presequels late game

I would argue that's because Pre-Sequel has no late game. To be fair, BL2 didn't either at launch and most people forget that. Pre-sequel is on the same level as BL1.

BL1 endgame was basically kill mobs, re-kill bosses, open chests and hope for Legendaries, then DLCs were added and it became farm pearls from Crawmerax, Badass Lance or Crimson Lance Chest.

In Pre-Sequel it was the same, except you also had the Sentinel which is a step up. Then instead of pearls you have glitch weapons, which are also locked to a DLC. You then farm Eclipse/EOS/5H4D0W-TP, badasses, bosses or glitch chests.

Yeah, most of the Raid level/style bosses in BL2 are from the DLCs.

BL2 has 10 DLCs. (Or perhaps ... 9 DLCs, plus the Commander Lilith marketing gimmick). Not to mention Digistruct Peak (which was specifically designed as end game play).

BL:TPS just doesn't have any of that. Disappointing, but ... there it is.

As for Luxy's Space Adventure, I don't think there's anything TO "restore" I don't think it ever got beyond the concept phase. If it had been substantively closer to completion (to the point where "restoration" was actually a feasible idea, then Gearbox would have just finished it in-house, they way they did with the Claptastic Voyage.

Not with the state of gearbox games these days. Tiny Tinas was yikes.

Elements from Luxy's space adventure were reworked into Handsome Jackpot for BL3 so I don't think there's really much else to do with it now.

Claptastic Voyage was developed by the 2K Aus team, not sure where this ongoing idea that it was done by Gearbox internal has come from, think some people just assumed that and Gearbox don't feel the need to correct it.
A few of that team did end up over at Gearbox though after the closure of 2K Aus (like 2-3).

Lack of any ongoing TPS content like Luxie's is just down to the closure of 2K Aus though.

Of course if so happens that suddenly there's a new DLC for TPS, at least some people will buy it. Because TPS, while being less popular than BL2, does have its fanbase. And even though I personally prefer BL2 as the overall best game in the series, I would check this DLC too.

But like others said, this is not going to happen. Some of the ideas and assets from that cancelled Luxy's Space Adventure DLC were actually reused for Commander Lilith DLC for BL2 that was released in 2019.

That's the story that I heard from Zen_Disaster, who's daughter worked for Gearbox.

The idea and early development work may have been done by 2K Australia, but Gearbox did indeed finish the DLC in-house (according to what Zen said).

As someone that made the DLC that is absolutely not the case, developed and shipped it at 2K Aus, has been unfortunate seeing it and other parts of the core game misattributed.

In a heartbeat, this is my favorite Borderlands game after the first. But a dlc will never happen for this game again since Randy had this game dropped like a rock, its long past its life cycle and its 100% not possible we'll ever get any new updates to the game that aren't for the sole purpose of advertising the newest borderlands product (I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate when they do this).
Fish Jul 26, 2024 @ 11:11pm
yes but it'd only be good if it was made by the original team that made this game.

thanks for helping make this game, it stands as my favourite Borderlands to actually play through despite the lacking postgame. the others have postgame but actually playing them to that endgame just isn't as fun as this one. tragic waste of potential that this game got cut so short.
