ERROR / Crash on startup - possible fix

If you get a crash on launch with an Error window no matter what the message is eg sound, missing or system files etc
1) Turn on airplane mode or disconnecting from the all networks.
2) run the exe under <whereEver>\Steam\steamapps\common\BorderlandsPreSequel\Binaries\Win32\BorderlandsP.exe

The game should load but pause just before the main menu, give it a few seconds then click or press a key and it should continue to the main menu and you can play the game.

You cannot connect the network or the crash will happen mid game.

Is SHIFT screwed up again ? seems like every 3 or 4 months something goes wrong and multiplayer or even single player stops working if you are connecting to the shift network.

That's one of the reason I only play in offline mode (check your network settings on game start screen) and never sign in to shift these days.

Anyways just wanted to say another fix for constant crashes is to delete 2 files which can become corrupted , so if the first step didn't work you can try this , go to

C:\Users\YOURNAME\Documents\My Games\Borderlands The Pre-Sequel\WillowGame\Config

Delete both WillowEngine.ini and WillowGame.ini then try running the game as normal , if it doesn't work you can just restore the two files,

The game automatically generates a new version of these files with default settings so if it DOES work it means the old files got corrupted , probably during a crash or the game freezing up on exit but you will need to redo any config settings you changed before, like FOV , brightness , gamma etc etc , should be easy to redo it and it's worth it to get the game working again.

That doesn't fix it but it is Shift replated
It maybe regional

server-54-192-177-9.akl50.r.cloudfront.net cert protocol not supported so maybe older TLS

Other BL games have random shift issues but this one has been airplane mode only since 2022 and match up with the epic games *.ol.epicgames.com cert expiring 6th March 2022
