Just me or is this game super underrated?
- guns / shooting feel as good as BL2 (ok BL3 has cooler weapons)
- with the HD texture pack it arguably looks better than BL3 in many places
- level design is incredible
- music is better than any other BL
- much of the dialogue is *actually* funny unlike BL3 which can be super cringe / annoying
- voice acting superb like any other BL game

Guess I missed out on this back in the day, but very happy I just picked it up. :steamhappy:

It's at least equally fun to play as BL2 was. And yes, it's always been under-rated except by the professional reviewers and a significant proportion of the folks who've actually played it all the way through to its endgame ~ this smallish though important group has always shouted its praises. The main criticism which I've read though disagree with is that it's "shorter than BL2" ~ not really. Have fun :vault:

I agree I think it is i think the main complaints were the oxygen thing and it doesn't have a lot of good DLC like BL2 did.

They don't seem to be putting as much dev time into DLC content after a game is released. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands DLC so far has been unimpressive... at least that is how the majority of people seem to feel.

Yes, it's under-rated.

It's (obviously) compared to BL2 which received years more development and many, many DLCs, so there's an obvious difference in the volume of content (between the two). It's too bad really, there was actually more content planned for BL:TPS (including one major piece in early development), but it never got completed.
Probably is a bit underrated as you mentioned. BL:TPS added a number of fun new additions (lasers are cool, butt slamming, double jumping, cryo more fun than slag, etc.). UVHM was planned at start and better balanced. Vault hunters have more personality / story focus which I liked. I personally enjoyed the overall design of the VHs more as well, felt they were better balanced in general. Haven't played BL3 or Wonderlands but thought BL:TPS had better mechanics that BL2.

As for the general complaints people have made BL:TPS, they're usually pretty consistent. Lack of DLC is one. BL2 has tons of extra content compared to BL:TPS so there's a lack of end game content, BL2 has insane amounts in comparison. The Australian studio that produced BL:TPS was shut down I think which is a shame because the Claptastic Voyage DLC is one of the very best in the series. Would have been great if they were given the opportunity to finish the next DLC and give the game more content.

You liked the voice acting but I've noticed some people don't care for all the Australian accents. BL:TPS was made by Australian studio I believe so the voice acting uses lots of Australian speakers. The game also stuffed with Australian references, these would I assume go over most peoples heads.

I also felt that it needed a bit more missions. There are times it felt there was a bit of level gap. Going from end of normal run to start of TVHM, mission levels jumped a bit too fast. Also you pretty much had to do every mission possible to keep your level at the appropriate level so I feel it could have used a few extra missions here and there to help keep your level up.

Agreed with this.

It seems rather ridiculous to criticize a game for having "too much content" but I just found BL2 to be very bloated. I really enjoyed the tighter, more focused, and more thematically consistent content of TPS.

- guns feels like B2 because it's just modified B2
- depends of your GPU but B3 have many improvements
- level design is boring
- music? idk don't remember
- dialogue can be better than B3 cause it was made in 2013...these days you find mostly cringe everywhere
- voice acting idk...

personaly i hate 0 gravity, oxygen system, very low diversity in environment, enemies and other

It is fantastically underrated. For me it is still the best Borderlands game I love to come back. You can just see how much love and creativity was put to the level design, world building, voice acting, soundtrack, characters, skill trees (the best in Borderlands series, period), etc. The game expands on everything B2 has in a better way.

The fact that it is shorter and has less DLC than B2, well, it doesn't make the game bad lol. It is just shorter (still quite long if you want to finish 100%). But the quality is very high.

And it's very unique even outside of Borderlands genre. There is just nothing like it, in terms of space-opera-themed shooter.

YES very under-rated people to this day always compare each game instead of enjoying it for what it is. BLTPS is a great adventure far better than BL1 (imo), lets not forget it came free with the handsome jack DLC and got a HD upgrade too so no complaints from me.

Edited for spelling

The Aussie accent , colloquialisms and references that I don't get all start to become frustrating after a few hours.

The voice acting itself is not bad at all , but it's like listening to someone talk about a sport you have no interest or knowledge of and they just keep going on and on.

I realize this must be rich coming from a westerner who's culture gets forced on everyone else in the world when they want to watch a movie or play video games , now the shoe is on the other foot and I'm complaining.

Still a great game and with mods it's even better. borderlands 2 just overshadowed TPS.

I found the aussie accents a bit much. The real problem I think was that it came after BL2, which was a masterpiece, and Janey was a bit too much "heart of gold" and not enough "black marketeer". She was the first of the cringe chars... After playing BL3 and Tiny Tina's (this was horrific - although Tina is still a great voice actor). I came back and was surprised at how good the dialog was in it overall though. Definitely agree, underrated.

Same thing, for me and I'm a westerner 😁
Humour is for Aussies only, as are voices.

Also, the double health bosses were too much. Plus the re-used map system for a more vertical game, you're spending way too much time finding something close, as per the map, before you realise you need to go to another map to reach it !

When all is for a restricted population, you get what you planned for ...

I just beat Borderlands 3 and frankly TPS is just smoother and a refined verison of what Borderlands should of been.

You actually get Moon Rocks at a decent pace vs "I must Vault it" Bo3 and "haha E rock" Bo2
The Lasers in Bo3 (for me) just suck while in TPS i horde ALL the lasers cuz they are cool.
The Action Skills are solid and work well with only Wilhelm landing in the bad Bo2 skill camp
Using the Slam in Bo3 is a nightmare (Also... WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE SELLING SYSTEM IN Bo2 AND TPS?!)

and personally, I rather look at Elpis then Eden 6, I want to shoot Marcus in Bo1 for even suggesting to go to that swamp hellhole.
