Please help PC save cloud won’t transfer to steam deck
I had manage to download a custom made button layout for my steam deck so that I could play the game but now my problem is that my safe file in the cloud on my Steam profile won’t work on my steam deck I have a lot of hours on this game and when I finally had the ability to play a portably on the steam deck I was excited for a while I’ve been playing borderlands three but I just finished it so I wanted to go back to this but now all my old safe files are gone and I don’t feel like having to restart a whole new character, I don’t understand what the problem is it works perfectly for my copy of borderlands two I managed to play my old safe I’ll send it back out there once I’m done

Save files from Windows client and Linux client (Steam Deck base OS) are different.
the steam deck is powerful enugh to run it under proton i would just recomend that, or find a way to import your saves from windows to lunix [sorry not used to the steamdeck keyboard yet] try out proton 7 first it could run at a near consistant 60fps for me
To be 100% clear for future players having this problem - the Linux port of the game gets installed on Steam Deck and Linux distros by default. It is not compatible with your Windows version save data. So, you have to run the game through proton to access your save data and play with your friends. I'm using version 8.0.4 at the time of writing and it works great. It even allows borderless fullscreen support, which the native Linux port doesn't have for some reason.

Also, you can't play crossplay between Windows and Linux versions due to this save data discrepency. So, if you play to play with friends in the future who use Windows, don't play on the Linux version!

I find it really silly that resources were put into a Linux port only to have the save data be incompatible and prevent crossplay. What a fumble.

TL;DR

Play it via Proton and it will work again with the Steam Cloud. and it runs at least as well (Proton 8.0.4)

Thanks! This helped me get this game running on my SD OLED.
I was playing this game on windows while I waited and I think that messed it up.

This isn't a Linux problem. There are different builds of the game for Windows and Linux, the save data for them isn't compatible unfortunately. The same problem can happen if you own a game that has different builds for Windows and Mac OS. It's up to the developer to ensure compatibility, but it's much easier to keep them separate.
Do you know, where savefile in SD? Try to find, but can't
