Can't add Shift Friends

Hello, I haven't played for a year. By launching the game, my friends are gone, but I still have my characters. When I receive a shift friend invitation, I click on "accept", the accept button turns orange but no action is taken (when I decline the invitation, the action is taken). Same the other way around, when I send an invitation. I do not know where the problem may come from.
(I play on steam and my friend on epic games)

I haven't been able to use the Shift Friends List since summer, this is how I play with my friends:
-From the main game menu, press N, make your lobby public and open the game;
-Make your friends join from the matchmaking browser;
-Once you're in game change again from public to friends invite;

Same problem for me as well, OP. I last played the game with a friend on Epic in 2019-20 (not sure) and it worked back then. Some years later, I got back and tried connecting with a new friend on Epic, and that orange button thingy happened to us as well. This ain't a solution, but he hosted an online match and I joined him through Match browser. We had to restart many times to make this work. :/
