Nova? No problem! Mission... problem
I've recenty been going through all my side missions to get them out of the way, some of which I may have already began in the past and now want to finish.
One of those is the Nova? No Problem mission.

The mission starts at the point there I need to reach the security room. I find my way inside, clear out the scavs, and then... I'm stuck.
"Use the nova shield and shock the cameras" yeah but... I don't... have it. Yes, I double, triple, quadruple checked. It's no where to be found in my inventory. I thought that items integral to a mission were impossible to lose?

Is there any way to obtain it again? Or am I just doomed to never complete this mission because I lost the damb once in a lifetime nova shield? I tried checking to see if maybe it could be bought from Nina, but so far no luck.

This is the worst mission in this game and you can't deny it. Here's solution:
The mission actually begins in Serentiny's Waste, when Sprigns gives you her Nova shield (should be blue rated). You need to equip it and go to the security room. Now pay attention.

With this shield, you need to shock yourself by middle electofillar (I don't know how to call it) and then make about 1-2 step back. This will only work with this one particular shield so I would put it in the stash available for all your characters in Concordia. I hope you understood what I mean, coz if you don't have that shield I would start a new run by some other character.
Anyway, good luck! :vault:

Hey! Thank you for the reply.
However, I know exactly what I need to do and how to go about it. My only issue is that my mission is being continued from the point of 'reaching the security', not from the beginning in Serenity's Waste.
Because I'm not starting from the beginning, I'm not sure how to acquire the nova shield- which I don't have.
I'm not sure if I dropped the shield or sold it a while ago- I just know that I don't have it, which means that I can't complete the mission.

Is it possible to return to Janey in Serenity's Waste and get it again despite being further ahead in the mission? Or alternatively, is there a way to restart the mission from the very beginning so I can get the shield again?

If you've already been to Concordia (and Springs has moved there), fast travel to Serenity's Waste. The Rapid Release shield is inside a chest near/across from Vending Machines.

edit: If you're finishing sides and at proper level, while in Serenity's Waste, kill/loot Iwajira: https://borderlands.fandom.com/wiki/Iwajira

Oh! Thank you very much, I'll go try that.
Also thanks for the tip. ;0
@JackBurton

Hey,,, what do you do if you don't have enough to open the chest? :')

If you've not found it, there's a Vault Symbol near corner behind chest w shield - it's difficult to see, just move along wall toward corner while pressing [E].
I'm not sure I understand.
I found the chest, I just don't have the points to open it. I mean... I think they're points. Tbh I'm not quite sure what the symbol is. A rectangle with two horizontal lines above it and an upwards arrow on top. Whatever it is, I'm guessing it's not enough to open the chest because of it.. not opening.

Just to double check, this chest is inside a storage compartment, yeah?

If you sold the shield, another of your characters may still has the shield. Then you can transfer it to them in Concordia. The other option would be to start another character and get the shield. I keep a spare character just to hold items like that. Good luck.

Haa thank you very much, I think I might do that. :')

Thank you everyone for the help!
I've finally been able to beat the mission by following @Seren_Syzygy's suggestion of switching the shield over from another character.

My pleasure to help out.

What's the reward for this mission? I also made the mistake of selling the shield somewhere then backtracking to finish the mission not long after I first reached Concordia. It's so irritating that I can't use an electric weapon to do the same thing.

I sure hope there's no other missions this dumb in the game.

Have you met Claptrap?
