do the grinder quest , equip better weapons (shock weapon for shields , the moxxi lvl 16 shock lasergun you got from the quest can still do the job ) , some ice weapon is always good in one slot , make cash and farm vending machine ( save quit ) , you can farm felicity to get the quasar legendary grenade , very usefull
the game is easy once you have a shield around your level and the search for good weapons is the core of the game
and try respec your skills
edit : do the quest Land Among the Stars to get Invigoration Oz Kit ,it helps a lot in the beginning when you have trouble health regen and you dont have a good oz kit

What is the quest level of the main story quest you are working on?

What level are your weapons and gear?

The way this game works, there is a VERY steep damage gradient based on level disparity. The greater the disparity, the less damage you do, and the more you take. This applies to both you and to your gear.

Odds are you've skipped too many side quests. If you go do some lower level side quests and level up (and get better gear), you'll find you're able to progress again.

Note also: Better gear means On Level. The color of your gear is indeed significant, but the level is more important. A White gun that's your level, will, in many cases, be far more effective than an Orange one that's 10 levels old.

Check the various weapon machines, they often have decent, blue quality gear for sale.
Is this a joke? Lol, with Jack? HARD?

im playing with jack and i find it rather easy with his skill and all the gun i used in the start of the game was the machine sniper rifle and it did quite well against higher level enemies although i score as much critical hits as possible and shot from a distance

Nope the game is not hard if you know what you do. Playing as Nisha, with correct build in my first playthrough I was able to clear entire spawns in a single Showdown, and it felt like cheating.

Now people say that Jack is a very powerful character, so... you're doing something wrong I guess.

If you are playing with a controller, try KB+M instead.

Use the vibrapulse, I beat normal mode with it.

I think the game is too easy. You probably are using very old gears.

Game difficulty is not bad right now I just started playing with Nisha, I don't even need showdown yet cause Kill Skill and current level weapons are keeping up

I quit playing borderlands the pre-sequel years ago because this damn game is unnecessarily too hard I even have the best gears equipped and they knock you down too easily I am level 30 but there are enemies that are five levels ahead even though the mission log says you can do the quest at level 30 I knew for a fact that the pre-sequel was going to be absolute freaking crap because it's not made by gearbox It was made by 2K games Montreal They clearly did not play borderlands 1 and 2 instead they completely screwed up the level system anyone who thinks the pre-sequel is too easy is obviously One of those people who are into the challenge but not me.

And your point is?

The point is that this is Steam. Some communities don't like you to start a new thread if there's an existing one that covers your issue. Some on the other hand, don't like you to necro old threads, because (in general) updates can render the information irrelevant, or incorrect.

Steam is one of the latter communities. They prefer you to start new threads rather than necro older ones.

i know this is 3 years old but playing the game for the first time alone as Athena has been pretty straightforward, enemies that were 3 levels higher than me were dying in 2 or 3 headshots from a sniper rifle, i had much more difficulty in Borderlands 2
went down Athena's middle tech tree which is a melee focus, you get a ton of buffs from slapping enemies with melee and you have an ability that lets you close that distance instantly, like a dash
I'm not finished with the game just yet but the only time I had trouble so far was against Zarpedon because that arena had no almost no cover
if the enemies are an uncomfortably higher level than you, just do some sidequests. they give crazy amounts of XP, thats what they are there for... i've never even used the grinder that other people memtioned because the loot has been mostly fine. don't be afraid to experiment with new weapons.
