Baroness or Jack's double?
The Baroness is something of a sniper though not in quite the same way Mordecai or Zero were.
I'm not really sure how the body double will play.

I can only get one of them at the moment and am looking for suggestions and possible early build tips. I don't currently have any of the dlc for BTPS.

I'm currently getting to know Claptrap and Willhelm.

Lady Hammerlock is very unique. She’s a glass cannon that can be difficult to play at times if you aren’t prepared or good enough.
Meanwhile Jack’s body double is a jack of all trades that can be speciallized in many different ways. You’ll have a good time with him even if you aren’t that good.

Nisha is good if you are quick at killing enemies which you should be able to do by spamming her ability and that nice flat increase to shield capacity and gun damage in addition to kill skills. She is the type to get better the longer the fight lasts. She isnt as survivable as Athena but she can kill enemies a lot faster and you cant get hurt if theres no one left to shoot at you.

Lady HAmmerlock is a very niche character. I never played her for long but yeah

Baroness can be as good as Mordecai and Zero as a sniper. Just that each one have different specializations. As a sniper, she is mostly focused on elemetal damage, while Mordecai is raw and Zero is critical.
Her other skill tree is focused on the new cold element, what freezes the enemies for cheap crits/kills and healing. And the other tree is mostly for multiplay, making her a healer and buffer.
I won't call her a glass cannon, though, as she can pretty much heal herself and even resist damage better than Nisha, what is the trully glass cannon of this game.

Jack is the jack-of-all-trades. Guess that was purelly intentional by the devs. He is the best solo character, with no need to be at the certain level, get some specific equipment, or do a particular build. He have skills that can make him useful in combat even if he don't have any ammo.
He is the kind of character that someone would complain about how cheap, or overpowered, or cheat, or broken. Personally, I find stupid when gamers use these words, especially when talking about optional gameplay. And yeah, I'm aware that someone will disagree with me by showing some Nisha build that can kill some boss faster than Jack, "wah, wah, whatever!" Is not about the DPS, but how Jack can be adapt to whatever situation.

Jacks double is the most OP character in the game no question

the baroness is really nice, I don´t know much about her sniper tree but her Cryo tree in the middle is pretty good and the co-op tree on the right is really really really really good but it only works with a second player

My best suggestion is to get at least the two dlcs ("upgrade packs") that allow you to level up to the game's maximum level and the Claptastic Voyage dlc (tied for one of the two best dlcs in the BL series with BL2's Tina dlc).

Your request about playable classes is a bit unclear cos different people favor different things but I've played them all and can respond. If you're looking for the best-written and well-rounded playable class, it's Nisha the Lawbringer. If you're looking for the most outrageous playable class with the best skills for keeping team mates alive and healthy, it's Fragtrap the Claptrap. If you're looking for the easiest playable class to level in solo, it's Jack the Doppelganger. If you're looking for the best defensive skills, it's Wilhelm the Enforcer. Aurelia the Baroness wasn't too much fun for most people I know who are experienced playing the BL series. Anyway, these are just my opinions cos you asked so I wouldn't expect everyone to agree. Have fun :steamhappy:

Thanks, yeah just put a few hours into playing the body double and he is strong. To be more specific his digi-clones are crazy strong.
I'm currently putting the points into the left tree, 11 levels worth so far. not sure what to put points into next, once I have at least the first 3 skills, tier 1-3, maxed at 5 each.

Right. Sorry, I wasn't clear you were looking for Jack's Top Gear & Best Builds but now I'd add this site - you can easily search it for all things TPS-related https://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/t/guide-jacks-resource-thread/1263844 :steamhappy:

I'll keep that site in mind, thanks.
Side note...whats the base level cap? Ya know, before the 2 dlcs are added.

Ah, I wasn't sure considering how short the base story seems.

Jack is very powerful. His ability can be kept almost instant active, and you can make it so they get stronger the more they die and the longer they live. The cool down can be reduced with his perks and the active time can be increased. They can act in place of "kill" effects from your perks and murder bosses who are 3 levels higher than you. Add the Moxxi gun you get mid-way into the story and boom, easy solo and co-op. He can even have regen for you and your team.

The other character is quite fun. She seems to work well with good sniper rifles and her ability is powerful, just not near Jack's.

I definitely suggest getting the dlc packs, because the game is a blast.

Would the skill that adds a chance for the clones to shoot a corrosive shot be worth adding in later on? Thats after I unlock the Bad:orb::orb::orb: transformation for the digi-clones of course.

IMHO TPS is long enough and about 1,000 x of better value for quality than its competitors in the market. For this purpose and most others, I consider a game to be the base plus all playable dlcs as a single unit. It's the bigger picture of why a base game's max level hasn't interested me for any practical reasons in decades - and yes I admit I've been trained by the marketing machine that is the computer games industry including GBX.

But whether we like it or not, I think it taught us long ago starting in BL1 that the story never really ends with the base game - they just cut if off at a convenient resting spot until we play the rest of the game that's contained on its dlcs - the dlcs are the only way you can reach the full game's maximum level which most consider to be its "end".

It’s not going to have much use in the base game, there’s not a whole lot of armored enemies.

TBH the whole left tree is pretty meh for me. The powerful holograms are fun in normal mode, but get slower and less powerful as the difficulty increases.
