Will the UHD Texture DLC do me any good?
Is there any reason to get the UHD pack if your PC can't even display the game in a UHD 4k resolution? Like if I got it, but I don't have a GPU or Monitor that can display in 4k, will it do me any good? The best resolution I can play at is 1920 x 1080.

Hey there!

Look on the DLC Store link in the section "ABOUT THIS CONTENT".

https://store.steampowered.com/app/941180/Borderlands_The_PreSequel_Ultra_HD_Texture_Pack/
It says: Increase the visual fidelity of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and its DLC with upgraded and remastered environment, character, and weapon textures. Playing at 4K resolution will provide the greatest enhanced visuals, but improvements can be seen on lower resolution displays as well.

Now, in my experience, I have an old NVIDIA GTX 570 with an i7 2600 processor, I play in a 1920x1080 resolution using a 24" monitor and with 1080p of maximum resolution and I can tell you that yeah, it have improvements. Textures are more refined, detailed and with more resolution. When you enter in a new map the textures take a little time to load; and that also depends on the load on secondary programs that you have on your PC. In my case, I don't use programs like GeForce Experience, streaming, filters... so my experience is acceptable and enjoyable. I must also say that I use a different DefaultPostProcess to get extra FPS and for the game to look more cleaner with vivid colors.

You don't lose anything in trying it, you can deactivate it if you see that your performance is not adequate. You can read in the same DLC Store link that it says: *If you encounter performance issues after installing this texture pack please uninstall the DLC by quitting the game and then unchecking the texture pack in your DLC list in the Steam Library.

I also advise taking a look at the reviews to be informed, especially those that claim that breaks compatibility with Windows in combination with Mac or Linux. Always make a backup of your save files to be more secure if something fails. The DLC occupies an approximate size of 8,60 GB.

Sorry for my long post.

Cheers!

Yes, it will.

No, I don't have time to explain resolutions and basic maths to everyone on the Internet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It does make some graphical improvements and updates the texture quality. The one thing I always see people complain about is that the new remaster of BL1 looks the same as the original copy of BL1 because the average person wasnt taking in considering the amount of detail of the UHD textures because they dont notice it. I noticed more of an upgrade when comparing BL2 UHD texture pack uninstalled/installed at 4K because you can obviously see more detail at 4K even at a distance because the resolution is higher. At 1080p with my 144hz monitor I cant tell the difference with the UHD pack on or off unless you look very closely to the textures and take screen caps. Overall it adds 10-15GB to the game so unless you have the space on your SSD or Hard Drive I would say go for it anyway just in case it does add some graphical improvements that you can see.

The one thing I find interesting is that in the Pre-Sequel they have added more detail to Handsome Jack with the UHD texture pack which I didnt notice at 1080p.

I would simply ignore the claim that it breaks compatibility, what you are getting here is a texture pack upgrade its nothing ground breaking. If you are running 32bit Windows sure it just might but however like I said a texture pack is not going to break compatibility. Thats a bogus claim otherwise I would of heard it a million times.

Well, it seems that the problem is only from the last patch and not from the UHD DLC itself.

Mac users did not receive the last patch that Windows received, so some people can't play with others.

Edited my post to avoid confusion. Sorry.

Regards.
