Mac/PC incompability
Hi guys! Is the problem of playing co-op on Mac and Windows still unsolved? Any trials or positive changes? Wanna play co-op, but I don't know whether that is still a problem. :steamsad:

It should be fixed now. Mind you, I haven't actually checked in BL:TPS recently. However, cross-platform compatibility is working fine for BL2 so it should also be working for BL:TPS.

You might need to download The Battle For Sanctuary DLC though (I'm not positive on that, Aspyr can tell you what you need to do for sure).

This is NOT fixed and there is no timeline at all on when it will be fixed. Aspyr only care about Windows customers. The rest of us can just wait a few months to play another game with friends on Windows.

bl2 is fixed, tps is NOT fixed. (you dont need the commander lilith dlc, only the HD pack)

a few months ago when this issue first appeared (with the HD pack release for windows, but no other platforms), aspyr stated that the update was going to come to all other platforms (M/L), but they didnt give any kind of timeframe for this. over a month later they finally released the HD pack for bl2, but there is still no sign of the HD pack for tps (i check almost daily).

take draekus up on their advice, complain directly to aspyr (ive done this at least twice). maybe if enough non-windows players complain directly to them, they will finally get of their lazy butts and fix the issue...

maybe...

Well, dunno then. I suggest filing a ticket with Asypr Support.

I know that the actual game fix for BL2 was part of the Commander Lilith download. Prior to downloading that, my copy of BL2 was still out of sync with the Windows version, but after I downloaded it, it was up to date.

it was not the commander lillith dlc that fixed compatibility between platoforms. it was the HD pack being released for mac for BL2. the confusion is that the commander lillith dlc came out on the same day (sort of) as the HD pack was finally released for BL2 on mac. i downloaded the commander lillith DLC but coop was STILL BROKEN until i downloaded the free HD pack. it is the HD pack which broke compatibility for bl2 and tps on the same day when it launched for both bl2 and tps on windows but nowhere else.

the commander lillith dlc was not a game version update, but merely a content pack, similar to the headhunter dlcs, and tiny tina's bunkers and badasses. these do not change the game version, only add content, and you can coop with anyone regardless if they have these dlcs or not (although obviously you cant go to a dlc unless all players have said dlc). the HD pack apparently actually changed the fundamental game version, breaking continuity between platforms.

You say that, but my recollection is that I was out of sync until I downloaded the Commander Lilith DLC.

It wasn't a thing I rushed right out and did either. BL2 had updated at least once or twice, and weeks had gone by until I noticed that Commander Lilith was a separate download and actually did it. (And I still haven't even played it yet ... <shrugs>).

And as far as I recall, I didn't see my friends whom I know use PCs start to show up again in my game list until I had (downloaded the DLC).

But regardless, as far as BL:TPS goes, prodding Asypr with a support ticket is probably the most useful thing anyone who wants to play BL:TPS co-op can do.

so, i heard back from asspyre:

"Hi there, thanks for reaching out to Aspyr Support.

We apologize for any frustration this has caused, at this time we do not have any updates regarding the Borderlands: Presequel cross-play issue. "

sigh...

to me that reads, "sorry (but not really sorry), we might get to it someday but we are currently not actually working on it, despite our promise to do so, and we have no actual plans to do so anytime soon. but dont forget to buy borderlands 3 and give us more money!"

ok so that last part wasnt in there anywhere, but im assuming it was implied

I don't have the 'Commander Lilith DLC' (I missed the window for downloading it for free) but my Borderlands 2 (OSX) is now able to join Windows players. There was a BL2 game update that seemed to fix the issue. BL:TPS still not working with PC friends. Grrrrr......

That's 2K support, right? They don't really have anything to do with the issue.

The ball is in Aspyr's court: https://support.aspyr.com/hc/en-us

nearly identical to the response i got for asspyre several months ago...
"we're working on it, but we can not say anything about when it will happen"
ie. "we know its a thing and we know we said we'd work on it but we are not, and dont plan on it any time soon..."

still an issue. .. . trying to play with my son on his new windows laptop and found we can't join each other.... shame bell rings.

especially because b3 has now been out for mac for almost 4 months. they've had all the time theyd ever need to do it if they intended to do so.

It's possible that cross-platform play might still be possible if your son turns off the new HD pack.

Not making any promises, but it's something you could try.
