Fragtrap advice please
I'm playing claptrap and have gone done the fragtrap tree but it is so random. It's quite hard at the moment to have to keep switching to different weapons and stuff, but the tree offers lots of good skills.

Any advice or tips for it would be great please :)

There are ways to make you have a better CHANCE of getting what you want...but its still up to luck in the end. He is not for the faint of heart.

The Fragmented Fragtrap tree seems tricky to play with on a new Claptrap file. As such, you may want to respec into the tree at a minimum of Level 20. That way, you have enough skill points to put one into Cryogenic Exhaust Manifold instead of trying to invest as you level up. That skill can help purge a poorly-timed Subroutine (such as rocket launchers when you need to use a sniper rifle or shotgun). Similarly, putting one of those points into Grenade Vent can help keep a well-timed Subroutine going, especially with Bomber Oz Kits allowing for freebie grenades.

If you don't want to respec and you're already pigeonholed into All the Guns, Fuzzy Logic, and Safety First, your next skill choices are where you have an actual choice. Blue Shell should take priority over Surprised? Stabilize!, but Rope-a-Derp involves dealing with the wonky Melee mechanics of BL:TPS, especially in low-gravity environments.

Tripleclocked is a great skill. Despite the increased penalties (nearly halved damage on guns that aren't chosen), the increase in bonuses will more than make up for them. All the Guns will have up to +75% chosen gun damage and up to +60% chosen gun reload speed and fire rate. Safety First will grant roughly doubled Shields or Health with +7.5% regen of the one chosen.

From there, go nuts with selecting skills. CryoExhaust is well-worth the investment of even a single point to be able to purge a Subroutine you don't want faster and Grenade Vent is good for the opposite. Elemental Subroutines is a good skill, but remember to steer clear of Jakobs, Torgue, or non-Elemental guns if you decide to invest into it. Death Machine is a pretty fun choice and pairs very well with shotguns, ARs, and SMGs. Float Like a Bee is in the same leaky boat as Rope-a-Derp, but can be rewarding if you're good at the weird Melee combat mechanics.

Thank you for the detailed reply :) I didn't even think of using cyrogenic exaust manifold or grenade vent for that purpose.
