AI clan marriage
Ok, so here is a scenario (This is in vanilla game/no mods):

I created a new clan with one of my female companions. The clan members including her did eventually marry someone, but as it happened, those were all older spouses and no children were born.

When my ex-companion and clan leader was the only surviving member of that clan (but pretty old, definitely over 60), I married one of my grandsons to her.

Now that she died, my grandson is the only member of that clan. I hoped he will be able to re-marry, have kids and keep this clan alive, but in about 10 in game years, he is still a happy widower. He does not seem to be interested to marry his cousins (my brothers' granddaughters).

Is there any particular condition that would make it more likely for him to marry? (For instance should I make sure he is not a member of an Army?) He will always run around with his party as the only clan member, but I wonder if there is anything else I could do to help facilitate marriage with other AI clans? I get frequent offers from AI clans to my other grandchildren, which I mostly refuse, so I know there are potential matches out there.

My final backup plan is my older brother's second wife. She is 33 and if my brother dies (he is 76), maybe I will be able to marry her off to my grandson. Hope this will work, but it would be better if he got a younger bride.

Also, for full disclosure, the clan that my grandson is in, is currently tier 5, rich, and has 4 fiefs (2 Towns and 2 castles).

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Cousins can't marry. Being in different clans doesn't fool the game. Your sister-in-law might work, but if she has already had children she will have less chance of having more kids. You've probably done all you can to save the clan. Either he will choose a bride on his own or the clan will die out. Once someone leaves your clan you really can't influence their lives that much anymore.

If you look around on clans in the game. You will notice there is a lack of women over all vs how many males there is. Create a clan with promote a companion you would have a higher chance of that new clan leader be married IF its a female. The other dudes in that clan that will spawn, big chance of die lonely. A higher chance doesn't equal its a given it will happen. A promoted clan is after all a "bottom of the barrel value"...

If you want a promoted clan to do good, you need to make sure the dudes there get married by offer up people from your own clan. Even you do, you need to babysit the clan to get it to rank up to higher tiers to be able to field more parties to be of any value.
You're in the hands of the fertility Gods!

I do think you've given yourself the best possible chance by fostering a wealthy estate and high clan tier..

Its a long view but maybe all you can do is make sure the kingdom has enough viable children being born. So as few imprisoned lords as possible and as little war as possible. Full prosperity for as long as possible will improve lineages chances, and the opposite being true on your enemies.

In a game such as CK3, children can be both a blessing as a weapon you can curse upon your foes, or a major headache of your own when they start murder each other over power. ;p
I would love an intrigue layer like that =)

Like you die, and you have 6 children and they split your kingdom between them, you end up with a dingy castle, and have to retake all your fiefs and kill all your siblings to get back what you lost?, no not really -)

On this playthrough I made a kingdom composed of only companion clans. All together I made 11 clans, 9 of them are tier 5, two tier 4 as of now. The kingdom is prosperous and the clans are doing well over all. I did do lots of babysitting on them and married some of my clan's women to them (but not all needed that rescue).

At this point there are plenty of young, single females in my kingdom and at least half of them are not related to my clan at all. So from that perspective there are possibilities.

There was another clan with only one member left (male). I managed to marry my granddaughter to him. This resulted in 5 kids (3 boys), so they will recover eventually.
In order to increase conception odds, since both husband and wife were leading parties, I made sure they both were in my army and it worked extremely well.

I just have this one clan that seems to be in trouble. You may say that is a pretty good success ratio, but I really wonder under what conditions AI clans marry each other. Perhaps there is something I can do besides wishing my brother death while his wife is still young enough to have children... (I am still not sure if that will even work, but we'll see).
I wish you all the best on this. Gameplay like this is what the sandbox was built for.
One day hopefully, the limitations on player-built kingdoms will be solved and we'll be able to expand this kind of gameplay onto another layer.
