Better banner customization
This is a minor point but I feel like a game called "Mount & Blade: BANNERlord" should have more options for banner-customization.
Games like Going Medieval or Diablo III have pretty varied options for creating your own banner (and in Diablo III its not even a relevant feature) and I would like something similar for this game.
It would make it harder for the AI to generate Banners when a rebellion happens but by setting specific parameters for the AI it should be possible.
Idk just a thought.

What do you mean to be 'better'?

I mean more diverse. Not just one symbol and two colours to choose.
- option to put maybe 3 or 4 Symbols on the banner and arrange them in different patterns (Going Medieval)
- option to choose ornaments or maybe wear and tear for the banner (Diablo III)
- maybe option for how the banner shows up when carried on the map or during battles like flag, hanging banner, gonfalon, etc. (https://www.pinterest.de/pin/251497960413961039/)

Lol, I absolutely agree! I've been asking myself the same thing since BL first came out (on EA). I mean, it is in the name, and as you say, the banner editor is one of the most basic Iv'e seen in a game.
I personally use the Bannerlord Banner Thing Sadist_cain posted here, and I use POC color randomizer (https://www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/792?tab=description) to apply them in-game.
It is laborious, and it has a bit of a learning curve, but I've been able to create some nice pseudo historical banners and apply them to most clans, kingdoms, and companions.
Im still hoping that TW will eventually do a revamp of the Banner creation system.

,,,
Guess you weren't around when it first launched into early access. Back then we could make very complicated banners and even share them with others rather easily. But it was causing constant crashes for many players. So they removed that ability so they could work on more important stuff.

I hope it returns down the road, but no clue. I'm sure that some community modders will do something with that if Taleworlds doesn't.

As for more banners carried by your troops, community mods are already touching on that.

Good luck have fun.

Yeah. There are only 14,528 options. We definitely need more.

But whence cometh the resources for more banners?

How about if TW ♥♥♥♥-cans multiplayer, then assigns those resources to making more banner options?

I think it's more than just those technical issues with crashing. TW makes use of some interesting strats to use certain file-type default color layers for other rendering instructions, like using a color/tint layer as a specular node. (Just from a very brief instance where I forayed into the modding forum to see how materials were being assigned/created.)

From descriptions of other issues that players had with that banner generator, it "seems like" there was a difficulty there with the renderer properly interpreting the output instructions from the generator, resulting in bad tinting/color issues and the like. That could be a simple issue to fix or... not. :) I don't know.

Warband allowed the use of fully customized .dds files as banners. I don't know why they did away with that unless it was a desire to make it multiplayer-compatible (everyone has assured access for the same symbols/colors/arrangements) or there was a concern about rendering overhead/processing for some reason. (Maybe a battle with lots of units with custom clan symbols displayed on shields/armor was just too much or not designed for, originally?)

PS: TW has announced more support for "Banners" in-game, as in "units carrying banners" and the like. So, one may see some upgrades/fixes there across the board.
