Is There A Time Limit?
So, finally got this game and am installing it now. I've never played a Mount and Blade game before, but I've noticed that the game tracks our character's age during the course of play, and we can produce heirs upon marrying people.

So this has me curious as to whether or not I have to worry about my character dying of old age at some point, and effectively losing all my progress?

When it comes to strategy games, I am not a rush focused player, I prefer to take things at my own pace. Which sadly almost always turns out to be too slow, when compared to other players who have mastered all the strategies and know how to build up power as quickly as possible.

I'm a little concerned that unless I try to find a spouse and build up a legacy as quickly as possible, I'm going to screw myself over in the long run, when my character is too old to get the job done.

There isnt, even the enable death option does nothing as of now. Not sure if you can die of old age but time goes very slow that a faction could conquer the whole map by itself by 10 years so its a non issue

It is said that you can die of age, but could take over one of your kids.

As sidenote, a year is 84d ( a season 21) and any child becomes useable at 18y nearly smiliar to a companion just w.o skills and limit.

According to some you can't marry after 40.

Character death of old age is a limit. But if you will have spouce/children you will continue as them. Maybe also as companions.

There was a main quest 10y limit for completing it, if you didn't you couldnt create your own kingdom, but I think that's fixed in recent patch.

Well then, I know that that I will personally be using XP cheats, once the developers get those working properly again.

Not devoting weeks worth of real life grinding to max out my Smithing skill, if my character's just going to keel over and I have to start the process again.

I too upped the xp gain via mods and used an editor to up smithing. Imo it has currently too few reasons to put a single point in it.

As I said, I've never played a Mount and Blade game before, so I don't exactly trust myself to be good with the combat system right now. Until I get a better feel for it, I think my first play through is going to be as a trader.

I've already got a decent understanding of how to do it effectively. Buying goods and resources in places where they are abundant, then selling them off in places where they are harder to come by.

Beeing a trader works until the economy dies, which commonly happens for me but i guess i cause it.

You'll get rather quickly a feel for the prices.
Commonly askars cheap grain helps me to kickstart it for me.

Imo they're a sidebuy. I anyway need some, but they rarely yield the same profit as its grain did for me. 400-500% isn't too uncommon.

i dislike timed games, like for example Capcom's Dead Rising i love take my time and explore and enjoy, but when game is yelling play faster or you will die it pisses me off.

Buy for 80. Sell for 500 two towns away (in Sargot and further Vlandia). Easy workshop in 5 minutes.

When you have literal weeks of real time until you die, of playing 24/7, it sounds like overreaction

You can sell for 60k too. But you cannot do it in first 10 minutes of the game.
