Enabling companion in cities?
Hi.
I disabled companions in cities a week ago. But Now I can't find where to enable them again. How do I enable it back? I've checked every menu, every option but can't find it.

Do you mean you left them in a city? You should be able to talk to them and ask them to rejoin your party.

No, I mean, before I had a companion accompanying me when I took a walk in cities. I somehow deactivated it, and I can't find how to activate it again.

Are they still in that city? If not, use the encyclopedia to look them up and see where they are. Try going to there and talking to them to see if they will rejoin you

I did not know that was an available option. You did this in the games settings or with a community mod?

If you press the Alt button while in a city you should be able to see the names of a bunch of places and people, including your companions loitering around.

Go talk with them and ask them to follow you = next time you go for a walk in a city those you asked to follow will be there with you from the start.

If you talk to the companion you can tell them to stop following you around, I have no idea f the reverse works...sorry never tried it, but if you go for a walk the companions are in town there talking to them an see.....best chance but still just a guess!!!

That's the thing, they're not in the city. They're in my party. And I don't know how to make them appear when I walk in a city.

Do you have a lot of companions? If so, it tends to only bring 3-5 of them into the city with you. If this is the case, try moving the one you want in the city higher on your party list (like right under you). This sometimes works

I have only one with me. And she doesn't appear in the city with me. No other companion in town.

The companion is in your party though? The only other thing I can think to try at the main city menu (before you enter the city so you can walk around), click the + at the top right, on the bar that shows the villagers you can speak to. Then select your companion and click "leave in settlement". Then enter the city to walk around. You should be able to then find and speak to them.

Sounded like an idea but once they're in the city, all I can do is to ask them to join my party.

Did you mod your game? Yes/No

You should, by default, have at least one Companion accompany you when you're in a Town. If you have more than one Companion, up to 3/4 will also be in the Town somewhere. By "default." There's no vanilla way to switch off that behavior that I know of.

If your Companions were in a Caravan that was attacked and defeated, I think they'll go to the nearest Town. Not sure, there.

If you've kicked your Companions out of the Clan, they'll go back to being Wanderers.

If you've modded your game and it's borked up, now... Oh well. (Not a great idea to add any mods that could possibly effect dynamic things in your saved game file during EA.)

If this is a bug and you never, ever, never used a mod for Bannerlord, you need to list this as Critical and give a more complete report so it can get fixed.

PS: When you said all you can do is to ask them to join your Party, do you mean you got the same initial "hiring" script or did you get a dialogue with them outside of being in a Tavern? If you talk to Companions that are already in your Party and part of your Clan, you can tell them to "come with me/follow/gather others to meet me/etc." I don't think Wanderers appear outside of Taverns. (Haven't tested it for "released" Companions turned Wanderer.)

In fact I just managed to have one companion following me.
Basically used the method above my last answer, but in a village. And for whatever reason, it worked in the village, but not in cities. Now that I got a companion in a village, it enabled it in cities too.
I don't understand the logic behind that, but that's how I did it. It only worked for one companion tho, can't add more.

I just found this thread while trying to figure it out. For me, the problem was I own the town - so the extra companions were all in the Lord's Hall. You have to go to the LH, then tell them to follow you or ask one to fetch the rest, and make sure they're all following you before you leave. Then they'll be with you in town as long as you manually leave and don't tab out.

The mechanics in this game are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ convoluted lol. You need a google tab up constantly once you get mid-late game and even then a lot of the answers aren't out there. Terrible shame because none of this is intuitive.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
