Best place to start a Kingdom?
Tried at Vostrum, the Southern Empire was finished at that point, but at the end of it, I got attacked by factions at all sides. I was winning against the Khuzaits and the Northern Empire, along with against the Aserai. But bad luck came when the Western Empire declared war against me and I was fighting them. However, the Aserai declared war against me again and now I had both enemies from both fronts. Part of me thought I should have went to Garios, Monchug, and Lucon for peace and take over the Aserai.

So, my main question is, what's the best place that is very defensible and profitable to start off with? Where I don't have to face multiple enemies at multiple fronts?

Maybe Sanala.

Starting your trade routes in Askar (Aserai) is the most profitable one, cheap war horses and desert horses, also they have the cheapest grains in the kingdom.
Quyaz and Sanala are great for buying cheap stuff and selling expensive stuff too.

I personally immediately married the Khan's daughter and began exterminating the Khuzait. My kingdom has been fairly safe.

I like to start in Stugian far right, on that peninsula...gives the capital good insulation from the rest of the world.:)

I started mine conquering the castle west of Husn Fulq, with a relatively small party at clan level 3.

Aserai territory in the desert has worked out very well for me. Even though I have 2 fronts, I have only really had war on 1 of them at a time. And now the Vlandians want a piece of me, I'm going to end up even more stretched out if I start taking their territories. But that's how it goes.

if the Khuzaits attack me in the East, I won't be able to hold off both fronts. Don't know what I'll do.

if only my companions weren't useless dipsticks and could actually hold a front. or even just not get captured every time. Just a little competence would be nice, just so I could actually rely on them to at least have that front stale mate. Then could perhaps delegate some responsibility to them. But they are completely useless outside my own party or Army.

My advice, pick a corner of someone elses Kingdom as starting point. And just make sure that Kingdom is one of the edge Kingdoms, not the ones in the center, unless you want total chaos and everyone coming at you from all sides.

There's a couple things you need to do first. 1 is make sure you have a govener lined up (must be same faction) because the town is going to be in rough shape after the siege. 2 is make friends with all surrounding factions. 3 is set up caravans ASAP to help your town grow.

Here's what I did. I joined battaria (make sure to stay as a mercenary) then I waited for them to go to war with Sturgia and vlandia, after attacking the lords YOU MUST set them free, do this multiple times and all the lords will love you. Then once I was prepared I attacked vlandia. Since vlandia is almost always at war with battania they don't bother me to much. Plus Sturgis and battania love me so I don't have to worry about war, just vlandia. Make sure to create parties as well to protect your first town and surrounding fiefs

Both - Khuzait and Aserai lands are easy to defend, both are far away for many kingdoms.
Both kingdoms have a good troop tree and lot of recruits to hire avaluble. With good special units.

Aserai have most of good skilled companions - governors, medics, ingenier, troop leaders and good fighters.

My hero was a vassal of aserai and he was elected for the king of this land. Was nice game, even a little boring, nobody was able to conquer anything in this land.

As aserai you will have less desest speed disadvantage and all other empires will have reduced movement speed in whole aserai lland.
Aserai have lot of food, good trade goods (aserai horses!) for easy money from trade, aserai have reduced trade penalty.

So, I think aserai is the best land for defending and for trade as well.

OP sounds like you would be better off joining a faction with your new found fief untell you are ready to handle multiple war's.

Have workshops/caravans in factions you don't plan on war with.
Work on trade/smithing for bulk income when needed.
Have one or two party members lead armies of their own.
Build up your fief and set a Gov.
Have positive relations with leaders you'd rather not go to war with.

Now break away from your vanilla faction, keeping your fief. Immediate piece with them. So you can attack another faction or just rush their main army.
