Horse Archer Nerf, Thank You TW!
If the beta update is any indicator, no more sinking head shots and endlessly kiting looters from horse back, this is such a great improvement to the game!

Yes, because early game is so pleasant we want you to spend more time on it?

You will reach 100 in no time. You will barely notice it.

Have you guys ever started a new game? Or do you just load up your 300 skill characters into highly modded games?

Its a HUGE difference. No more kiting parties of 45 looters at lvl 4.

How exactly does bringing the massively OP horse archery MILDLY closer to being in line with other styles of gameplay equate to you being forced to spend more time in "early game"??

You cant hit a damn thing when you are low level and moving as it is. You move, get the highest distance you can manage to hit something from (more XP), then you stop, take a few shots, repeat.

I'll never understand people wanting to play an exploit, it is so weird to me.

Honestly, horse archery shouldn't even be an option without a perk. Do you have any idea how hard it is to shoot a bow while just standing there? It's ridiculous

So yes, you rarely start new games. Before this update, I always chose "rode with cavalry" as my youth option. With literally 10 bow and riding skill you can buy a Nashawi horse with starting gold and you're functionally immortal against bandits.

Before you could reliably sink headshots while riding circles around the enemy and retreat when out of arrows. You're gaslighting me, right? It is widely known that horse archer is thee easiest and most op method of play.

You can reliably wipe out looters while moving and from a decent range, with a decent bow, and 100+ skills. You will probably have both within a day or two.

Dont worry, archer will be just fine.

Initial levels deliver awful gameplay. At no time in any of my games have I enjoyed fighting looters, running away from looters, or getting captured by looters. If you can't fast forward that part with some in-game know-how, it will be serious drag on the replayability.
wat

horse archers go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

They will still do that just fine.

Is the change noticeable. Yes, it is infact, I could barely hit the broadside of a barn initially.

However, after two looter groups, outside Poros, I had advanced to lvl 75 in riding and 60 in archery and could reasonably reliably hit stuff.

It is a minor inconvinience, nothing more.

After 2 looter groups... nah I am going to call you out on that. Was discussing with the speedrunners on this patch and they themselves were going that early horse archers were not feasible in the slightest. Getting off your horse and shooting has always been a thing for Athletics but ON your horse is no. To reliably get Riding XP I agree with them you need to suck it up and use Polearm (and take damage) or chase down routers with a 2 handed axe until you get the XP needed for Horse Archery. Right off the bat... no.

Is it inconvenient yes. Again get off your horse and shoot is very much a thing.

Well, I just did that a moment ago.

So. You are free to discuss whatever you wish, with whomever you wish and agree to whatever you wish.

...

Only a fool would ever use anything other than ranged for powerlevelling.

Again... They get OFF the horse and shoot for Athletics 100 and used to shoot on horse for 100 Riding. Now they shoot off Horse early game for 100 Athletics and run down routers for 100 Riding with a 2 handed axe. It is incredibly dumb to do early horse archery. I merely pointed out the options they stated. You do you boo.
