Is there a mod to fix the AI?
im at the point where im getting tired of playing and i am just autoresolving everything..

Every combat is the same and it doesnt matter if the enemies outnumber me 3 to 1 or i am the one outnumbering them 2 to 1.

Both armies start in the middle of the map.. enemy army instantly retreats to the border of the map and just sits there.

whats the point of formations, orders and tactics when the only thing that works is to be quick enough to send my troops on a charge to catch the enemy team before they reach the edge of the map.

if the AI hates battles this much they should just surrender instead doing everything possible to make the game as time consuming as they can.

or even better.. the AI can go play another game and let one of those fancy chatbot AIs take over.

What mods are you currently using and what campaign settings and are you playing sandbox or campaign?

agreed, this is very annoying
i get it, in that situation they need every advantage they can get but man is it not fun to do those kinds of battles

as you said, if they are so afraid or desperate they should simply give up because they get slaughtered anyway

Yea, how dare that danged AI try to set itself up in a defensible position to repel an attack!

If you're bored of the battle - the main point of this game - it may be time to play something else. I haven't used it, but I've seen others talk about the RBM (Realistic Battle Mod) adding some flavor to combat. I don't know if it changes AI behavior or just tweaks damage/formations/etc., but maybe give that a shot.

i mean do you really enjoy fighting an enemy that is literally retreating onto a mountain into the furthest corner of the battlefield?

its not fun, drags on, it looks stupid and its not working out for them either

I understand the idea of not blindly charging into a meat grinder. I generally take more losses when I have to charge uphill and fight on a slope than I do if I can rip through their lines with cavalry and have my infantry mop up. So yea, I understand why the AI would take advantage of that.

You can goad the AI into attacking. I'll take some horse archers with me and pepper one of their cavalry flanks with arrows. After some hits, they usually start to charge.

If you aren't finding the combat of the game fun, then it might be time for a new game.

i asked you a question about a specific kind of battle that happens rather frequently once you field an entire army of spacemarines

at no point did i say i dont find combat fun

No, I don't mind that type of battle, because it makes sense for the AI to do it. Set up a defensive position so your enemy has to charge you across unfavorable terrain. That sounds like a smart tactic, especially if your opponent outnumbers you, has better troops, and higher morale.

Kind of looks like you said it's not fun. Maybe you're stipulating actually swinging your weapon rather than setting up battle tactics? If so, then you should be having fun either way, because whether or not the enemy charges you, you still get to swing your weapon and kill your enemies.

it has nothing to do with defensive positioning.. completly flat map 100% plains.. they gather at the border..

but i figured it out.. they are trying to trick me into leaving the battle by running out of the border.

Nah, they're trying to make sure their reinforcements get to them instantly whenever their numbers run down...meanwhile your reinforcements have to reach you from the opposite end of the map.

I have like 120 troops they'll have like 180. i set up my lines ready to march and have a grand battle in the middle of the battlefield like a daym man does it. these dudes fumble over each other to run to the corner of the map and hide. whether its water or a cliff they don't care. no defense for this being implemented its just lame and annoying. its a battle game lets do the battle bruh.
