Banner Knights require you to go to Vlandia territory to recruit, and they have fewer castles. There are a lot more Empire Castles for recruiting, but Cataphracts take longer to recruit to max tier, and require more horses.
Agreed. They got quite buffed.
I wouldve given them a huge bronze shield so they could be spartan hoplites (that was my original design) but the games rudimentary troop sorter forces me to relinquish them :(
Also banner knights have better armor and shields, making them more survivable.
I quite like Vlandian knights for sieges. Good shields and maces work well when you can create a breaching force with overwhelming bashing might.
horse archers are awesome. I love the khan elite horsemen. I once recked a combined force of 500 cataphracts + some 100 infantry using the terrain to my advantage: I looked at the map and saw a very small bridge over this shallow, shallow river. I put my 25 legionary infantry and 25 cataphract cav in shield wall facing either entrance, sandwiched my then 15 archers in the middle. THEN I put my 50 khans guard behind the tiny bridge (still in the water) in a tight square formation.
The enemy cataphract's charge was completely nullified by the surrounding water, and the bridge's tiny openings. When they tried to circle around and attack the khans guard, they got wrecked by either bow and arrow to the face, or glaives. That's why I love khansguard. The battle lasted 10-15 minutes and by the time infantry caught up, their cav was routed, and they then routed easily.
