The penalty for raiding is far too much compared to the reward.
It takes FOREVER.
It causes relation issues with that village, the caravan owner, people in your party with MERCIFUL etc
The loot is terrible
etc etc etc
I never raid, even when I start a new campaign and say "ahhhh. imma raid this one. A LOT" and pick companions with CRUEL trait.
I still never raid.
it just isn't worth it IMO.
yeah thats probably the BEST use of raiding...
as bait
i never tried this.. sounds like a good plan
As for raiding being not profitable, they probably did that because raiding was too profitable in warband. Made early game way too easy.
it was TOO profitable in Bannerlord too.
then like nearly everything in ECONOMY, it was nerfed to near zero... and over the last 3 years has gradually been tweaked.
Still raiding is not good, (unless exploits apparently)
True. It is probably considered an exploit. Still, it is a pretty weak one at that compared to other exploits. You have to build up your warband and obtain some decent gear to put into the village in the first place for it to pay itself off. By the time you can exploit it, you really do not need it that badly anymore. For instance, if you are putting your $10-20k crafted 2h swords into the village, then you are truly using it just for an exploit. On the other hand, if you ware only able to put in items worth about $1k, then I would argue it is not much of an exploit. The game has also nerfed prison breaks since no one ever puts captured nobles into town prison anymore. So it kinda balances itself out a bit.
The caravan exploit is also supposed to work by attacking villagers going to market too with your higher-end items. For me, I have never really been able to make either of those bushwackings events work out well. Same goes for recruiting and using bandit troops. In the end, you are correct. Use the tactic judiciously so it does not destroy your gameplay.
