Sensible advice!
On bandit camps I have them form a line while I aggro the bandits. When the bandits get close enough, fire at will :D
Better than Skirmishers, Wildlings, Heavy Axemen, Fians, Cataphracts, Khans Guards, even Companions (though I do like using Companions to get them exp).. nobody is as good as those Footmen. Easy to get, easily replaceable, cheap to pay, they sweep through hideouts like butter, and they take every damn prisoner without harming a hair on their precious little heads.
I have the same number of losses, and get 100% of the inhabitants as captives. How's the percentage on Druzies? I can also solo every hideout. It's not that they are hard, it's about maximizing the return on them.
Oh, I did. And I'll do it again!
Wildlings will tear it up faster, as will Druzhinniks, but if all I wanted was to turn the bandits into a fine red mist I'd use companions for the xp.
Sword Sisters are crossbow troops without helmets. Not exactly ideal for hideouts.
As for whether they should be buffed or not, I'm not so sure. There are already enough good ranged units in the game, both infantry and mounted. But something like the macemen and such might deserve a second iteration.
Best unit for hideout imperial legionarie cause they often carry maces increasing potential number of prisoners.(Not like hideout was any challenge to begin with).
Though there are some perks that reduce wages specifically for merc troops, so maybe that's the reason why. Problem being that while they are cheap to replace its not necessarily easy since I can only ever seem to find them in taverns.
It is, that's how they are like in most cases, but especially in case of melee mercs, it doesn't actually help or make them desirable soldiers.
The lack of a helmet can can be explained as a cultural thing. WEaring kilts into battle wasn't the most sensible choice either, and yet some entire armies wore them. Of course, the Scots didn't conquer the world, either, but lol, neither will the sword sisters.
I always keep about 7-11 Gallant Sword Sisters in my army. They're badass
