But i agree it`s not right and some times i would prefer they follow my orders, maybe at the start of the fight spend influence for right of command.
What i find most frustrating is fighting a large battle and half way through the entire army retreats back to the reinforcements leaving me and my troops stranded until i notice.
but it follows with 2 stacks of 300-400ish AI army attacking 400 siege camp. cant tell the differences beside maybe character perk , or if it was because first time my army sit in the town before they finish camp building.
However, the AI will only ever fight real time battles if you choose to partake in them, so there's always an option to ignore the issues AI has in real time and solve the battle in simulation instead.
As a ruler you can also easily lead and command your own armies, and even order an army to disperse and reassemble it under your own command.
In that fight I talked about the allied AI ran straight to their death. The enemy AI turtled at their side of the field.
